Just put my job on the line today and went to my boss's, boss's, boss's boss to raise concerns and protect my team from terrible management. He apologized to me and has scheduled a meeting to talk to the team to let them know they are valued. Sounds like middle management is going to get a talking to. Fingers crossed.

@jhh2450 when my Sr. VP starts using "Fuck" frequently in the conversation and then apologizes to you for what's been going on, I feel pretty lucky.

@yamatoman cursing is honesty in this case

@bkwilliams if I get my way, I'll burn my VP and Director to the ground. We cannot survive with "leadership" like theirs.

@bkwilliams I suggested that middle management needed to work at least a sprint as jr. devs on a team to learn how it works. My SVP wrote that down. 😂😂😂

For me, I have followed several paths like that... always ends up with lip service.
Telling your team they are valued is not the same as actually valuing them.
Just like programming, the name of the function doesn’t necessarily indicate what it is going to actually do.

If you feel like waiting, with management, it usually takes several months to see if your discussion actually had an impact.

    Good luck.

@lewdogg no, not this guy. He means it. That's just his short term action plan. His next step is direct feedback to his reports. Him I trust.

Yep, that went well. Things are going to change.

@yamatoman good the world doesn't need anymore waterfall monolith products.

Or managers who don't understand how software delivery works.

@lewdogg the reason I like working where I do: change started the same day.
