Am I Data Engineer or Software Development Engineer ?

I design the infrastructure for analytics data, and I build the infra entirely including an development. Except making reports out of the data.

What I'm supposed to be called ?
Data Engineer ?
Software Development Engineer ?

Definitely not an Data Scientist. Official designation given by company is Data Engineer II. But what I'm ?

Confused, someone help me please.

    You are a developer.
    Corporate labels are almost always meaningless for your actual skills, level, and experience. You can write pretty much whatever you want in your CV for the jobhunt.

    Generally, if your primary tasks are infra setup for analytics platform.. say Hadoop clusters, hive queries.. then it's often regarded as data engineers. It's a specified branch if software engineer.. like web developer or iOS app developer. Not sure abt u, but generally data engineers get less programming tasks compared to assigned software engineers if the company assigns such roles..

    @timekeepeer,

    Oh, thanks for the clarification. Our company wants analytical system like Amplitude, so I'm building them including from client libraries, servers, ETL pipelines and setting up data store.

    Previously used Druid, but sql joins became pain. So going with BigQuery and Redshift Spectrum.

    Thanks once again buddy.

    @Gowtham95india welcome. You got some awesome tasks in your hand. By developing client libraries, u r in grt touch with development.. and setting up bigquery and redshift.. which are new technologies.. it's awesome.. ur experience in all these gonna count a lot..
    I am a machine learning enthusiast and always wanted to contribute towards it but my job role is software engineer(though I am excited to learn a lot).. I always dreamt to become data scientist..

    @timekeeper,

    Wow, ML and AI always excites me. I'm planning to slowly switch to that part. Yep, my job is so exciting as they gave me the complete responsibilities and power to decide what to use.
    But I have very less experience, it isn't a big deal still a little bit of problem when it comes to choose what tech to use and all.
