    On the flip side, imagine how much more LinkedIn would suck if Microsoft did with it what they did with Skype.

    They wanted Facebook at the time though. LinkedIn was not a priority. in fact, they were willing to spend +$15bn on Facebook while it was still bleeding money.

    The situation makes more sense if you look at the history behind it.
