Thank you @dfox for allowing us to hide reposts. :)

    No problem! Please do keep in mind though it's experimental and depends on other users marking reposts, and won't work 100% of the time :) We'll keep working at it though.

    There will be a news most later that discusses the changes to the voting system.

    We pushed new versions of the app for iOS and Android tonight that include a number of voting changes. You'll need latest version to see, Android might not be visible in the store yet.

    @devRat There's been an update to devRant that lets you hide rants marked as reposts by other users. Check your favourite app store. ;)

    @dfox It's a very elegant solution. Kudos!

    @BellAppLab thanks, we appreciate that. As you can probably guess, the logic is show reposts to people who want to see them, and try to hide them as best as possible for people who don't.

    It'll need some tuning but it's a start!

    @dfox How does the "not for me" downvote option fit into that, if at all?
  • 2
    @BellAppLab it doesn't too much. "Not for me" is mainly to capture personal preferences and use it for the algo. If something gets an inordinate amount of "not for me" votes then it could count against it, but for the most part it won't. Offensive/spam will always count against the content and repost might depending on the setting of the person viewing the app and how many reposts votes it has gotten in general.

    As the announcement later will explain, we'll be taking false downvote pretty seriously and this change comes with an easy way for us to wipe out anyone's downvotes who uses false reasons, targeting, etc.
