Side projects what got me job three times. Move your lazy ass and work on your projects AND actually finish at least one 😒

What calibre of side project were they?
  • 2
This is one of them: http://www.appsahead.net
    Also worked on Android Kernel
And I show prototypes of small projects demonstrating my effort of learning x language, like for now in ReactJS and previously Asp.net core

True dat, we interviewed a guy the other day, great on paper but never worked on his skills so was severely limited to the dated tech in the corporate environment he worked in.

Like me, I was reading about progression e Web apps the other day, so I built one as it seemed like a good skill and would directly benefit the project I am doing at work, and it was fun.

Dev is an ever evolving industry, if you want a job, or a better job you need to work on your shizz

@RTRMS side projects are the only proof what we are capable of or if we are learner's or lazy devs

The actually finishing part is the hardest part for most people I think haha!

@linuxxx yup hardest part but totally worth it

My issue is finding ideas. I want to try so many things but I have no idea for any app.

@Enewia I always try with a simple accounting app when learning new language(s).
As for apps to release I see what I am missing and do it. For example Syncer is just what I was missing, true there are apps that handle this, but I want it simple, basic, and me friendly (instead of user friendly lol)
    Why not doing the same?

@gitpush well doing the same app for trying a language doesn't motivate me. As for finding an app I'm missing i often try but find nothing i think is worth it.

@Enewia but doing the same app for the sake of learning new language ends with extra skill which is knowing that language, this should be an enough motivation

@gitpush I guess it's doing something i've already done which bothers me. But now that i think about it maybe try to recreate an app/library I like is the way to go. Would make me understand it better too i think. Thank you that allowed me to look for other solutions 😊

@Enewia Happy to help and best of luck :)

@runfrodorun that is because work experience is limited, and unless you walked out of Uni, your education is basically useless in the context of the job you applying for, with the exception of a MS things, maybe a few others.

    This hit me so bad

@RTRMS Exactly at uni we only learned general concepts, its up to students to do more effort

@runfrodorun totally agree, experience is not from what we are told but from what we see when applying

@HnDev Best of luck my friend :)
