Fellow programmer: "You know the get part is not required in apt-get now, right?"

Yes...and I don't care.

    I heard there was a slight difference?

    @chadd17 After some digging, apparently they are completely new commands. They do what apt-get does, but it is not an alias for apt-get, it's an entire new set of commands. So it's not like running apt is calling apt-get.

    So when someone tells me I don't have to type 'get' anymore, now I have a better answer as to why I still use apt-get instead of just being petty and refusing to do it the new way.

    What's wrong with someone trying to help out/give a tip?
  • 0
    @linuxxx although i dont know the circumstances its not a tip which makes life easier. its just an alternative without benefits. and that can make a big ass difference. which is why being sarcastic is really an option.

    @vadimir I don't get the sarcastic part but if the person didn't know that they could've meant it as tip genuinely maybe? But yeah idk the circumstances either, good point

    @linuxxx the sarcastic part is me being sometimes not nice if somebody talks bullshit to me. and yeah giving tips on new technologies without benefits or with false promises does qualify said tips to me as bullshit... this remembers me of the my current project

    @vadimir Oh so you're not saying that I'm the one talking bs?

    @linuxxx
    why should i. at least in this thread you are not giving any tipps without benefits or tips with false promises. you are simply stating what you understood in said conversation and why you dont understand his reaction. its not like you try to force your opinion on anyone (i.e. "how can you be rude to somebody who gives you a tip / tries to help you").
