My mom got infected with one of those stupid you have a virus redirect viruses. Malware bytes isn't useful.
To make matters worse it doesn't redirect in Edge, so she's forced to use Edge until further notice.
It's going to be a long week.

Also I don't have much experience with Windows viruses especially these redirect ones, so yay!

    did you try looking for it with the autorun or procexp programs from the sys internals suite?

    I suggest doing a back up and reinstalling windows. No one's got time for messing with winbloatware

    Lucky for your mom edge isnt that bad and renders HTML quicker than any browser out there.

    Get your hands on spyhunter. It rapes 99% of virus malware. And check her default search providers and extensions set it back to what it needs to be spyhunter should be able to remove the hijack

    @karwler no. Unfortunately I have no time at this point. We are moving tomorrow, so stress levels are high already.
    But I'll do that when we get settled in like 2 days.

    I usually deal with Windows viruses with tronscript, look it up on reddit. Too lazy to run antivirus scans manually

    @Kryptic0 have you even used edge? The renderer of edge is better than the one of Chrome or Firefox.
    The only thing I dont like about edge is that the updates are way to slow. Ive to wait till the next windows release to have an updated edge.
    I dont use edge because of the plugins even though the most important ones are there already.

    @poster983 if spyhunter doesn't do the job, run the trial version of HitmanPro, if that doesn't do the job, run Roguekiller until it gets to scanning other files than system.

    Tronscript may help if you can't reinstall Windows.
