Hey all! M gonna b buying a new laptop for programming.
I need something with like 16 gigs RAM, decent processor, SSD.
I can't buy thinkpad because well... It shud have been ~$750 but in my country, it costs $1200. And that is for the 8GB RAM config... E470... 570 isn't even available.
Hence since the lack of laptops without dedicated GPU but high configs, I basically can find 2 options:

Dell XPS
MacBook

So I wanna ask what would you guys prefer? I code in C/C++ pretty much exclusively. And I definitely like butter smooth functioning of OS.
If it ain't a MacBook, i'll b using Arch Linux.
Finally, I live in india.

So... Which one do I pick? And if u have a recommendation, I m open for that too. It shud just have good specs BUT NO DEDICATED GPU.

Thanks 😄

One of those has { } on the keyboard, the other doesn't :)
I've used both, like the XPS better

@nbamaral lol... At this point m decided on MacBook... Now to decide 2016 vs 2015 models (2015 is still available new here)
And I don't want touch bar... How's the keyboard difference mainly?

    @Electrux
Can't help you there, the Macbook is older than those, I have a 2 years-old Air, the keyboard is OK.
    No thinkpad but ok :)

@nbamaral haha ok thanks... I hear mixed opinions on keyboards of new vs old mbp... One more thing... Do u still gets OS upgrades? And is it like rolling release model or u gotta format system to upgrade?

Mine did get the latest osx upgrade, I think it's a 2015 model
It fully upgraded over, which included some kind of formatting in the background since the file system did change, but it was a hands off process, although a little long
