    Masturbation helps me focus. Because when I am too horny, my productivity drops.
    But after I cum, I can focus again 100%

    @JaredDunn That's only because you do it so often and have made it a habit, that your body can't function without it. That's how you know you masturbate too much and definitely suffer from over stimulation 😂

    @VirtualProtect But at least this is my super efficient way to reset my dopamine. Masturbation only takes 3 minutes. 😂 On average, I jerk once a day. (Also note that it is almost physically impossible to jerk more than 6 times a day.)

    So, wasting less than 15 minutes per day , my productivity can stay high always 😄

    Most importantly, I just have to drink more water to hydrate myself :)

    @JaredDunn you may not understand how much releasing semen depletes your body of vital fluids. You'll need to supplement heavily on minerals like zinc, as well as stuff like lecithin, arginine (an amino acid), magnesium etc.

    @vertti over stimulation like that (especially via masturbation) can have *similar* effects on the brain as a cocaine addiction. Both lie on the same principal: over stimulation of dopamine receptors.

    There are many cases where masturbation addictions are even harder to kick than a cocaine addiction. This is because masturbation is way more accessible and socially accepted than cocaine.

    Personally, I think masturbation should be done less often or not at all (if you need a community to help you with this, go see /r/NoFap). But with that being said, I will in no way enforce this upon anyone.

    I am just here to raise awareness as this was definitely an issue for me in the past. I was never motivated, had no attention span, couldn't focus etc.. and constant masturbation was definitely the underlying cause. I'm not saying this is a one stop solution for everyone, because there can be other addictions contributing to this behaviour as well (one common example is video games)

    So does meditation work? When I get the crave to masterbation, I don't know how to get rid of it unless I do it. I've been looking for a solution but haven't found one. What's your routine then?

    Meditation can help bring self awareness and may provide the control you need to help stop masturbating. But, meditation alone will not the the answer for you.

    My suggestion is to "re-wire" your brain by setting new habits to different triggers that may cause your brain to think about masturbation.

    I'm going to give you one example (from my own experience). Whenever I would get into bed, my brain would automatically think about masturbation. The way I fixed this was that I would meditate once I got into bed so that I could focus on something else (rather than instantly think about masturbation). (You may replace meditation with another activity such as reading a book etc..)

    At first, it is extremely difficult to resist the temptation, but the worst thing you can do is give in. Do this new *activity* (ex: meditation) every time you find yourself thinking about masturbation. Your brain will start to adjust and think of *activity* instead of masturbation.

    @mahdoosify my above comment is a reply to your comment. Also, it took me around 90 days of dedication with the new activity to stop the temptations from popping in my head. Now it's a breeze! I don't even want to masturbate anymore

    @JaredDunn man, 3 mins Masturbations and you're on your way to become a premature ejaculator. Hold that urge and give yourself some better calmed 15 mins sessions. Or try Taoism, Masturbation without coming but edging a lot and re circulating that energy from genitals to the head and stomach

    Well, being socially akward is certainly a limit but it's not a complete block.

    The most stable relationships I've had, have been those that started as friends with common interests (eg. Both programmers)..
    Or meeting each other in an online game, before deciding to meet up in real life and eventually getting together :)

    Reminds me.. I wonder if anybody started a dev dating platform collab yet :D
    - I would like to tag along and help out with one such, but am not gonna start one :)
