SSD is fast enough on windows, imagine running Linux on, it will be ultra fast. If only I could afford ditching Windows :/
For now I'm using a Linux VM on my SSD

@gitpush yeah it feels really fast :D i'm happy.

Try Solus OS. Found it awesome.

@kristofersoler enjoy, that is the best thing to happen to a dev 😀

@kristofersoler Any benefit of Linux Mint over Ubuntu? I've always been an Ubuntu user but just wondering whats the diffs

@gitpush really don't know. The only think i can told you is Ubuntu lag a bit on this Laptop. But Linux Mint doesn't. I prefer Mint in my personal opinion. Never had lag or problems with it.

Now i'm installing Fedora for change a bit and try other distro.

Hope i help you in some way.

@kristofersoler I tried both honestly, but couldn't see that much of a difference, I don't really like Ubuntu but I'm used to it and don't feel like setting up my dev environment all over again lol

@gitpush yeah, installing again from cero is some tired task. I usually use some program wrote in bash to install all the programs automatically. While installing, drink some coffe or chocolate with fresh milk. :D

By the other hand, the only difference i felt with Mint vs Ubuntu is the desktop and maybe the control of the system, with Mint i feel i have more than Ubuntu. But just a feel.

@kristofersoler That bash thing rings a bell for me, might go ahead and type those scripts and tryout a new distro tonight. I either have the deb files or curl links.
Any debian based distro you recommend other than Mint? I'm not really a Linux pro

@gitpush I'm not pro too, but a bit seeker ;) I will recommend to you Elementary OS is not finished (in dev actually) but it looks goods and my girlfriends said works fine so, try.

I only touched Kali Linux, SUSE, Elementary (a bit), Fedora (a bit and more now), Linux Mint ( a lot ) and Ubuntu.

If you want to know more about other distro i highly recommend you to look in https://www.distrowatch.com , a lot of info there. <3

@gitpush @kristofersoler and there always has to be that one Arch guy. Ughhhhhh OSes that don't have graphical install are for real alfa <insert gender> everything else is shit and communist propaganda

Bitch I got debian on my Samsung m2, ultra fastboot enabled in the bios and systemd.
Feels like instantaneous start, the system boots faster than my monitor awaking from standby.
Also self build kernel, with all needed modules built in, and unused things thrown out.
    SystemD blame is your friend

@Kimmax I should try to do that too. I hate my PC taking its 5 seconds to boot...

@b3b3 it doesn't really matter, does it 😂
But it's great if you want to learn a bit about the systemd boot process and self compiled kernels
