I don't get why people like so much to mix personal life with professional... Always planning parties and "Forcing" everybody to join in... Sometimes it seems you can only be a good professional if you like to drink all weekend and complain about what you've been paid to do...

Can't really blame them... Since colleagues r the people they meet the most... They try to build better relations with them... Get to know em better and all... Hoping it wud make the work life better.😉
And in this age, it's usually done with alcoholic parties...

But yeah... Forcing someone to do it is not cool 😅

@Electrux yeah... I love to talk about hobbies and etc, it relaxes during the day and all, but during my free time I like to relax, study, see movies and spend time with my wife... And when we refuse to go to parties every weekend we became "that guy"...

I'm that kind of person! I hate my job though but hey it's a better option than starving to death 👌

Professionalism is great but if you think making personal connections at work is a bad thing, I'm sorry to burst your bubble but that's a terrible mindset to keep.

Taking the time and making an effort to talk to and get closer to people from work outside of work will only increase the opportunities you will come across.

Don't be that guy. Humans are social. That's how it works, really.

@charyas I'm a social person... I always greet people and do my best to make them feel confortable and well during conversations, and never disrespect anybody... I just don't get why people should be forced to do things they don't like (eg: watching soccer games, or trashing talk about women)

@Robsonstc See, you shouldn't be forced into it at all. That said, that's just how the world works. If the people you work with enjoy those things, you have to make an active effort to try and join in too. You don't want to be alienated and miss out on opportunities.
