Tomorrow I will be on a long train trip again so here goes!

My last train project is http://jsrant.com and people seem to enjoy it. Every time I am mentioned in a rant related to it people also mention the idea of a similar application but for in the terminal. So I intend to build that tomorrow.

To build the best thing for you I want to ask you some questions:

- What operating system are you running?

- Why (or how) would you like to use a devrant terminal reader?

- Why would you NOT want to use a devrant terminal reader?

- Would your use-case required obfuscated output? (Hiding it from someone)

- If so, what formats do you use on a daily basis or are you most comfortable with?

- Anything else you would like to mention or for me to consider?

I will be developing the larger part of this tomorrow, but the sources will be made available to the public.

    - What operating system are you running?

    Linux

    - Why (or how) would you like to use a devrant terminal reader?

Devrant is fun, but it is a distraction at work. I could reduce that distraction by leaving a streaming terminal open in the background and looking at it from time to time instead of opening the browser.

    - Why would you NOT want to use a devrant terminal reader?

I would not like some complicated interfaces and hard-to-install applications. It is a leisure thing after all. No need to spend hours setting it up.

    - Would your use-case required obfuscated output? (Hiding it from someone)

I don't care about obfuscation much as at work some leisure time is tolerated as long as we finish our stuff.

    - If so, what formats do you use on a daily basis or are you most comfortable with?

Anything really, json, java, python, go, yaml, sql, logs?

    - Anything else you would like to mention or for me to consider?

    I like train projects :)

As addition, there is already a dirty code devrant terminal viewer. Check the collabs section.

    OS
A transparent thing made with glass that is in the outer side of buildings

    Why use?
    Looks cool

    Why not use?
    The design usually sucks.

    Format?
    xml, yaml, json, c family

    Obfuscated?
Yes, like change to random letters when certain time has passed. Then users should do something, such as type commands like vi, to see again properly.

Can you add a feature like this
You can check python version by typing
    python --version in the terminal.

How about typing some commands like devrant --feed
    to see the feed?

You can check out environment variables in windows.

    @CozyPlanes

    Here's my draft:

    Show Usage:

    devrant

    Show Feed:

    devrant feed

    Show Top Feed

    devrant feed --top

Then later, should I decide to allow authentication:

    devrant login

    devrant rant

    devrant comment

    What do you think?

Updates? I didn't knew there was a train that still runs for 6 days. Are you going to the moon? 😝😝

@CozyPlanes Haha well I just didn't think I made something worth while. But if you want to check it out you could install 'go' and run:

    go get -u github.com/ChappIO/rant

That should install it to GOPATH/bin/rant

From there you can run it.

    Installing Go: https://golang.org/doc/install/...

@ChappIO I personally prefer 'went', not 'go'
