Here’s how you deploy changes in Soviet Russia.

“Dear subscriber of the Great Soviet Encyclopedia
The government scientific publisher “The Great Soviet Encyclopedia” recommends you remove pages 21, 22, 23 and 24 from book 5, as well as the portrait in between pages 23 and 24. Replacement pages containing new text will be sent to you.
You have to cut those pages off with scissors or razor, keeping a small area you have to glue the new pages to.
— The government scientific publisher “The Great Soviet Encyclopedia””

Context: this happened after Lavrentiy Beria, the man who carried on the great terror after Ezhov, was declared the enemy of the state and executed.

oh, and also, Beria was a known pedophile. Just like any psychopath given too much power.

Honestly it amazes me with utter disbelief that people are given these instructions and just accept it...

@NeatNerdPrime to be honest, it was probably funny to the audience of this encyclopedia, judging by my grandma. Every literate and intelligent soviet person was born with двоемыслие — “double thinking”. There are things the social-conforming part of you thinks/talks about, and then there are your real thoughts and feelings.
The societal circumstances back then made it the only way a smart person could live there and not go crazy/kill themselves.
Soviet people were very good at it. I inherited it too, to an extent, and still have a lot of work to do to really accept myself.

@NeatNerdPrime I have watched 2020 to 2023 and witnessed a huge portion of the world comply with any old crap handed down by an authority. People talk like they have agency, but just do what they are told.

In Soviet Russia, changes deploy you.

@vintprox well, _changes_ in economics _deployed_ troops to Afghanistan, so you’re technically correct

A Russian graphic artist who. does, ahem, offbeat work did a picture titled In Soviet Russia Horse Rides You. It may be available on e-hentai.org.
