Everyone in CS1 is using Windows 10 and VS to run their C++ while I sport vim on a Mac

@azuredivay not necessarily better, just different and more interesting for me because CS1 is super boring at this point 😑😑

Here in intro to programming almost everyone uses the python idle, the "hackers" use atom or some text editor and here I am using vim because I don't know how to exit. (it's a joke btw: :q)

    Have you tried Clion?

@kunaldawn yeah I use it when I really need to get things done, like in my lab. During class I mess around with stuff like this

@ytho sounds cool ... Try using Ubuntu LTS and Cmake also . What kind of experiments do you do ..

@kunaldawn it's basic CS1. A standard introductory C++ course. We spend an extra hour and a half a week practicing all the new concepts that were learned.

And yes, I plan to look into cmake soon

@Greggergalactic sure... If true, could be also some faulty hw like ram/ssd or drivers... Did you check?

Wait till they ask you to submit your vs project and realise the extra effort

Try neovim as well man, the plugins on that beast are amazing. Or Spacemacs. Emacs Lisp is great and you can continue to code in vim mode from emacs if you want to.
