Why is the phrase "left hand side" so prominent? Left hand is called left hand because it's on the "left side".

Is it on the left side of the thing I am facing or my left?

    "PIN number"
    "A whole nother"
    "I could care less"

Honestly, people just don't think. 😞😧

@Ashkin it just spices things up in the language.
    A whole nother: hyperbole
    I could care less: sarcasm

Now, I'd agree that PIN number and ATM machine are stupid, however.

@Ashkin add "salsa sauce" for that matter.

@iam13islucky if people used them sarcastically I might agree...
However, most often those are said seruously.

Left-hand side and Right-hand side are used to cut out ambiguity.

If someone said "It's on the right side", 'right' could be interpreted to mean 'correct'.

@Ashkin I could care less is definitely a US thing. In the UK people always say "I don't give a shit"

Jk but they definitely say "couldn't"

@Ashkin it may not be said that way anymore, but everyone knows what it means. That's all language is for, so if it gets the point across, I see no use in being a pedant about a commonly used phrase.

@iam13islucky I take issue when I sound like an idiot. Therefore, I avoid saying things akin to the aforementioned phrases.

But it is your choice, I suppose.
