Is there money to be made in android app development via ad revenue? I'm learning more Java for a different purpose related to a job and think it'd be a fun side project. Maybe utility apps, but probably games.

when you have more than some thousands downloads and active users, probably
otherwise... I don't really believe you are going to get anything more than a coffee (maybe not even that)

@lo98be meh, I guess it'll be a hobby then. If it makes me coffee... Thats ROI. If not, experience :P

@Crazed I obviously hope your apps will be downloaded 1'000'000'000 times and used all over the world
    good luck ;)

@lo98be if that happens and I make a gajillion dollars I'll probably get arrested for not knowing how to pay taxes on it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ so lets hope there's slow growth lol

DDG is your friend on that
consider making a donation to them and to EFF :P
edit: I mean after you earned gazillions but if you do it before... I think they'll appreciate that either way

I wish the best for you and congratulate you on your learning endeavours. But making money in Android is damn near impossible sometimes. Specially since many users do not like paying for apps. If you are open to using Java for other tech or working as an android develper then that would be another story.

I have made a free to play android game and with 30k instals (5k active instals) it's making me a nice 20$ a day. So its worth a shot. Nice little passive income :)

@Dovlahkin as a college student that struggles to work enough hours for food/gas because of my classes, that sounds like a dream. I think I make $20 a day from my job after taxes :/

@AleCx04 my career is web development centric, mainly front end. I knew some java but I'm learning more because I landed a reslly nice internship at a place that uses it on the back end and I'd like to branch out. App development is just something I always thought would be a neat little side hobby :)
