@KizuTheMaid I've had this tip before, and could try it out at home, but:
1. It's not an option at work as we cannot just install any apps we want.
2. @dfox said that devRant++ only works on the mobile app. -
You ask for a desktop option and when one is given to you you dismiss it because your work won't let you install.
Touchscreen mobiles have their flaws, but they're flexible and have the most screen size phones have ever had at these sizes, so they're usable by more. That is why they're so widespread! It's not just some trend to fade away by next month. -
Ah the irony. 😁. Ranting on devrant about devrant. I would like a desktop app.
But until someone makes one. We'll have to work with this. -
I have the same problem. I don't use the mobile app because I don't have a smartphone and I can't use the website because I don't have a computer. I'm having to interact with DevRant by mail. It's costing me loads in stamps.

dfox426037yThanks for the suggestion. @trogus is working on an amazing overhaul of our web version. While it doesn’t include devRant++ subscribing off the bat, we do plan to add it at some point!
-
dfox426037yAlso, if you wouldn’t mind, an issue added to our issue tracker for devRant++ on web version would be helpful.
-
@TheCapeGreek No, I'm not asking for a desktop option. I'm asking for the web app to being developed.
-
@dfox How/where do I add an issue? I remember something about some github issues being mentioned some while ago, but I've forgot the details, sorry.
-
@dfox Github asks me to verify my email address, but the verification email never arrives.
-
@github Hey, I found a resend button and yes, now the verification e-mail arrived :)
-
@TheCapeGreek "Touchscreen mobiles have their flaws..."
They sure do! :) Far too often, nothing at all happens when "pressing" a "button", and when something happens, it's not at all what you wanted, it's like touchscreen devices have a will of their own.
"...so they're usable by more".
Maybe so, but they are totally useless to me. This is why I would never buy a Tesla. That and the simple matter of how to pay for it.
Maybe touchscreens will evolve and actually become useful in the future, with a technique for reading input that works for everybody and not just for the majority, and with tactility, i.e. through 3D morphing of buttons, switches and wheels, controls that you can grab, feel and hold on to.
Till then, I'll dismiss touchscreens as the toys they are, no good for anything serious.

I love devRant, but one thing that I don't like is that all improvements are only coming to the mobile apps, and you can only become devRant++ using a mobile app. This is kinda discriminating against all of us who for various reasons cannot or will not use mobile apps. I am a dev; I use computers with big displays , (preferrably fullsize) keyboard and mouse. I do own a smartphone (a *real* one, with buttons, not a despicable touchscreen), but I use it for SMS/MMS and phone calls only. Mobile apps are just useless to me. The screen is too small and the numeric keypad doesn't lend itself for typing anything but brief texts. A bigger mobile phone wouldn't be a mobile phone. If it doesn't fit into the pocket and cannot be comfortably held against the ear, I might just as well carry around a laptop and then we're back where this rant started. I am a dev and love computers. Sure, I can develop for mobile phones too if needed, I'm just not the end-user.
