    @Lahsen2016 As Long as i can't pay a no-ads-fee, I don't accept any of theirs shit.

Dude, go to the street and look around. You'll see some on the bus, some, on the station, some on shields, some on the newspapers....

    It makes me fucking sick.
In 5 years you'll get push notifications containing them.

@Lahsen2016 i have to disagree to your disagreement.

It's ok when companies want to introduce their products to the world - totally okay with that.

But if they start trying to force you to buy their shit products, then it's just not right.

It's kind of a brainwash. I see like 5 ads each day when doing research for my daily work and it's always the same 3 commercials for the same products from some > Mio. $ companies.

Do ads really work though? My reaction to most ads is that they make me *less* likely to buy stuff from the advertiser.. except in rare cases

the only good thing about communism is the lack of ads

@xalez that's exactly my point. I'm glad you have the same opinion..

If I see "karlie kross" who created her own website wix, i will even less think about creating my website there.
Especially If I can do it by myself.

I recently realized that I hate ads more than anything in this world. Maybe not ads per se, but the way they're doing them - a lot of talking and no actual info.

@xalez Despite that most of the ads look just plain fucking stupid, people making that stuff are wizards that know what they're doing. And people paying for the ads usually don't waste money on something that doesn't work. Also, Google and Facebook are successful because ads do work. The reason that they don't work in your (our) case is because you're not their target audience.

@pajaja you're likely right. I just wonder if the small/medium companies that buy google/facebook ads have the resources or energy to measure their effectiveness, of do they just think they work

and since their ad advantage is largely built on tagetting, shouldn't people be generally enjoying youtube ads rather than skipping them?

even if ads have some effect still, I think this is on its way to diminish because of avaialability and information overload

@xalez consider this: when buying products do you buy branded or generics? What drives your decision-making to buy specific brand's products?

It's not about making you buy products, but rather swaying you to choose their product when you do end up shopping. It's about solidifying brand name.

My personal example to this would be me choosing Nescafe original over store brand simply because I'm more familiar with it and I don't have enough energy to cope with additional strain of trying new things.

In the same vein the reason why I chose to buy Trek bike over any other brand, with no prior knowledge on bikes, was purely due to rough research prior which led me to believe Trek is a reliable brand to buy bikes. Can I justify it? Of course no, I have no technical knowledge of bikes, but it's one of these products on which I rely on second party information, or what I assume is second party and not marketing shills.

More often than not I end up buying the same brands I usually buy without much forethought why I'd choose that particular brand over others beyond the gut feeling that it's more reliable.

Edit: to conclude, I'm not saying that applies to you. Maybe you have a methodology to analyse and justify your purchases. But I am if belief that unless you have an inner insight of the production stage of your product and the technical knowledge to understand how effective it is compared to competition, or you have tested the products and compared then against one another, then you're probably susceptible to advertising on a subtle level you may not even be aware. After all, thats how adverts are meant to work.
