@matsaki95 so, tar.bz is a container that is compressed... Besides preserving the metadata, there are advantages against other compression formats, like 7z (to mention a name)?

@0x412E2047696C tends to be smaller file. tar.bz2 is the smallest out of the most common archives

@matsaki95 hmm nice how about tar.xz and tar.lz cause those two are the common two out of 8 and the other 6 all are smaller than gz and bz2

@matsaki95 yeah tar.gz and tar.bz2 are the old standards. they are newer ones but I can't remember them from the top of my head
