The 1st ever essay I wrote on programming was littered with references to "and-sign". Prof calmly pointed out its called an "ampersand".

I still say "and" haha

One of my teachers tried to get the class to say "ampersand" but he also called arithmetic "aer-eth-mat-ic" but only in the context of programming. (There were some other strange sounding words, too, but I don't remember them.)

It was just strange to hear him switch from normal speech to using strange pronunciations of otherwise normal words.

So. We just made fun of it.

`&` is forever "and" to me!
