Some people were talking about IPhones and I calmly stated that Apple should catch up, and somebody behind me that I hate said "Android should catch up".
I could not help but laugh out loud.
I then looked it up, but didn't show him the specs between these phones:

    I was giggling to myself as I read the specs, because Apple was falling behind and I just proved I was correct.

    To be honest with you man they don’t...

    They’re a leading competitor, samsung fucking idolise them, and people seem to care more about what they do than any other phone company.

    And they can knock up a battery that doesn’t get their phones banned from planes.

    See it from their perspective: we have a brand, marketing and cult following that allows us to mark shit up a load... but those android guys keep saying we should concentrate on the hardware spec.

    If you could sell old laptops at a 300-500% mark up, wouldn’t you?

    Now, they should be fucking ashamed of iOS 11... it’s out of character for them to drastically fuck up so frequently in a major version release. Botching simple things, like orientation... that’s fucking shameful.

    Anyway; usual deal from me, I jumped from android to iOS because work were moving to iOS and I’m an app dev. Both are fine, there are drawbacks to both. Don’t put all your hopes into one company or framework, like the stock market: diversify or you’re fucked.

    @jamescodesthing Just for the record, two iPhone 8's have had swollen batteries by now (as in, nearly turning into balloons). They're closely monitoring how this is going to go!

    @Torbuntu Yes. This.

    @Torbuntu if the community decided anything was the be all and end all I’d do the same... that sounds like a nightmare scenario.

    Development on iOS is a pain in the dick too. Notoriously so, but... they’re still not begging for money, so something they’re doing is right.

    Personally I believe a large portion of it is their branding and marketing... the cult status.

    But, having previously used android flagships exclusively, I do find things about Apple that I prefer over droid.

    I do all my reverse engineering android first because there’s a shit tonne of security holes that make that easier... Most of the time, it’s easier to break droid apps than it is iOS.

    As I say, both are leading competitors, both have upsides and downsides, don’t put all your hopes in one or you’re fucked. I remember when Nokia/blackberry dev was the only way. Fuck that noise too.

    @linuxxx hahah again, you can points score all you like: in reality it’s the same fuckers designing and making both company’s hardware.

    The banned from planes thing was a little dig. Tongue in cheek because that’s horrific QA.

    Similarly, Apple’s cloud storage platform leaked a shit tonne of nudes...

    You can’t put all of your trust in either because both are have equal downsides.

    >don’t hate the player hate the game.

    Okay, I see that I might have started a small fire here, that's my fault and didn't really /mean/ to do that, but as I've stated both in devRant and real life I personally do not care what kind of phone someone has and you may stand next to that device, but I will still disapprove of the company because It's my opinion and it will stay as such.
    Sorry for starting a battle, I wanted to share my thoughts with proving someone that I hate wrong. @jamescodesthing @linuxxx @Torbuntu

    @ThatDude I didn't show him my screen, so he didn't see the specs I had shown (because I don't trust him near anything that has any value to me) so I just told him that he was ignorant and moved on with what I was doing.
    Which was looking at Linux User Groups as my Geometry teacher talked about a test we're having on Thursday.
    (I actually got to explain Operating Systems and LUGs to my teacher, it was fun just teaching a teacher about my hobby and such)

    @Nifty

    Nah son, friendly discussion.

    I couldn’t give a fuck which phones people use either. I just develop for them, and have a tonne of handsets laying around for both platforms 😂 both are good.

    I agree with the points you’re making but I come to a different conclusion 😊 nothing wrong with that at all!

    Nae need for a flame war on devRant!

    I fully respect your opinion and understand it’s not just your own but shared by many in the developer community. It doesn’t strongly contradict mine, we can coexist in peace ✌️

    I just had the email notification that my #swagDuckie has been shipped! This place is too awesome to have negativity on it.

    Much love to you, you wonderful fucker 😊 you didn’t start an argument, I don’t feel too strongly about this, it’s difficult to put that across in text.
