Well, I'm now making apps for Android in my class. This is going to be fun. (Sarcasm, please don't make me do this)3

This isn't about dev stuff or anything, but I guess zombies kind of exist now?
There's an article and news footage of a teenager high off of bath salts, ripping his clothes off, and attacking a man by tearing and eating half of the man's face.
From the article "When Miami Police officer Jose Ramirez arrived on the scene and ordered Eugene to freeze, the crazed attacker ignored the warning, growling at the officer instead. Ramirez shot Eugene once, then four more times when the first shot didn’t seem to have an effect, killing Eugene, but not before 70-80 percent of Poppo’s face had been chewed off."
You can go ahead and read about it here: http://gunsandammo.com/blogs/...
If you get sick looking at blood, or someone's face missing, don't click that link. You will probably put your phone down (or get up from your computer) and puke.5 -
[Disclaimer: This doesn't have too much to do on programming or dev stuff]
Earlier today I went to the library (the physical place) and just decided to sit down with some books on computer stuff, at some point I went into the "Education" section to see if they had like how to stuff on programming or whatever, and I found a palm sized rock that was painted white on one side with a dragon hidden behind a book. It said on the back "Post on FB. Keep or rehide"...
So I got my phone out and opened FaceBook, and the first post that showed said "I just hid a bunch of rocks at the Library and [The name of a park nearby]".
I posted some pictures of the rock and mentioned the friend on mine that hid it, and went to another section to hide it again.
I found a second one that said "Be yourself" and the same "Post on FB, keep or rehide" message, one with a Monster on it and at the park there was a mouse eating a piece of cheese.
The mouse one I kept for myself. :D1 -
So a bit ago I posted a rant saying that I would be getting ElementaryOS onto my computer and trying it out, buckle up kiddos because this goes to shit in just a moment.
I did everything right, used Rufus correctly and didn't destroy my computer nor my installer, good! I set it up, get everything going and everything is running smoothly. One problem... I couldn't download **any** programs that weren't from the Ubuntu Store, which really annoyed me because I like to use Brackets, and I couldn't find it in the UStore...
So I messed up **really** bad here... I didn't *format* my Elementary Installer, but tried to delete the files like a pleb and stick an Ubuntu ISO in it's place, I didn't even think on going through Rufus again, I just slapped that shit in there without a thought.
I restart my computer, I read a forum stating that I would get an option that allows Ubuntu (or another Linux distro) to take over the partition of a previous distro. Neat! Another bloody problem is that I decided to use "Win + R" and manually delete the Elementary partition **myself**... What is even wrong with me...
So I restarted it, and before my father left to go shopping, he said I should go into the BIOS to change the boot order (Now this is where I **really fucked up**. Thought what I said before was bad?).
Cool, so I boot my PC and go into the BIOS, now I couldn't figure out on my computer where the boot order was, when it was right in my face the whole damn time... I managed to almost destroy my entire BIOS with the fucking file in my USB stick, because I was being an idiot...
I restart, GRUB opens up with a black screen and white text in the top left corner, know what the most important line is in that small block of words? "unknown filesystem"... Of fucking course I fucked it that bad, GRUB didn't even give me the option of just using Windows 10 instead, just quietly gave me the middle finger since I basically nearly fucked everything.
What's funny is that I had someone (who lives with us, let's call him Jeff) look at my computer because I was done being a dumbass.
He told me that I still had my BIOS (which was a bloody relief, because I thought I basically destroyed my computer doing what I did) and that all I need to do is fix the installer I tried to use.
I gave him the USB and just started to play on my phone.
Then I remembered something maybe an hour or so ago... I had an older installer that I used on my shitty laptop awhile back, if I can find it again I could just use that instead of waiting on Jeff. I dug around my room and found the USB that had a working Ubuntu ISO on, correctly placed inside this time.
I basically walked up to my computer, plugged it in and started it up, and it worked. I got Ubuntu and Windows 10 back, and I was basically laughing like I just saved a man's life.
Moral of this story: Don't be like me and do something stupid, especially if you don't know what the fuck you're attempting at... -
My father gave me a couple smartphones to do whatever with.
So what do you guys think I should do with them?
I have an Alcatel onetouch and a Galaxy Core Prime.
So yeah, custom ROM? Tear them apart for parts? Hack them?
I'd love some ideas!5 -
There was a time in class, I was sitting next to my friend while fixing a couple mistakes in my HTML, at some point he looked at my screen and said "there's a random nine right here"...
I looked at it, I stopped whatever I was doing and yelled "nein" after he said that, then proceeded to take out the number he was talking about.
I'm actually part German, so I have a /pretty/ good angry German voice... (and Scottish actually, if I'm just a bit annoyed, haha)3 -
I'm typing this with my mouse and an on-screen keyboard, because I don't have my physical one at the moment...
Fuck, imagine coding with a mouse...6 -

I honestly think I should attempt finding a job that's around my interests, since I want to get a laptop and I just can't really do much without money in general.
Don't know what I would really be able to do in terms of jobs, but I guess I'll go exhaust my resources. -
Maybe... Just maybe... I could be one of the youngest programmers here.
(Judging from the fact that I don't have a job, and I'm in my highschool years still. Though there's to it than just that, but you probably get my point. 🙂 ) -
So apparently I found out one of my friends likes to program.
And here I thought he wasn't into this kind of stuff, but he just told me about a programming language called "Clipper" -
I like how I'm the only programmer or tech-kid in my school, since everybody else is using there phones for SnapChat and texting in the middle of class.
While I'm over here talking about the insides of software and hardware like if I were the person that made them.
Seriously, I wish I could show my classmates that spending all of their time on apps and websites that sell your personal data is less fun (and basically stupid) than actually making what you want with nothing but a text editor and computer.
But oh well, 90% of my classmates are either assholes, cringy white girls (or Mexican girls), and the only people I find tolerable or even likable, are the people that don't talk much.
(Like me)8 -
So a few months ago I got a computer with Windows 10 on it, and kind of ditched the shitty laptop that had Ubuntu (I loved Ubuntu, fucking despised the laptop, since keys were sticky or missing and it couldn't last a few minutes off the charger) so just now I decided to try Linux Elementary, since I'm getting sick and tired of Win10!
Don't judge me, I'm not skilled enough for Arch...6 -
Some people were talking about IPhones and I calmly stated that Apple should catch up, and somebody behind me that I hate said "Android should catch up".
I could not help but laugh out loud.
I then looked it up, but didn't show him the specs between these phones:

What happens when you scroll up/down a page?
Does the page stay as it is as it moves out of your screen's borders or does it delete itself for resource purposes?
I just thought that while scrolling through devRant and YouTube (which I do all the time).7 -
I think the thing that sucks about high school (or school in general, really) is that they don't really have many opportunities for the people that like to program or do anything with computers.
The only classes that have to do with computers at all (In my high school) is Intro to Programming (Which is what I'm taking, which has HTML, CSS and JavaScript), some computer science classes and finally the Cyber-patriot team. (Which is for Navy ROTC and it consists of Cyber Security, competitions and actual Linux computers).
The only few of eight classes I find actually interesting is Intro to Programming, NJROTC, and Plant Science. (Because not only the subjects, but the teachers (and Sergeant) actually make it fun, interesting and easy to understand, while the rest don't feel like they're doing a good job.)4 -
For some reason I would find it quite nice if Brackets or some other good IDE had a mobile version.
Since I don't have a laptop at this time and I'm a teenager that is dead broke, I might as well be able to work on my projects on my phone and just upload them into my drive for later use.
Because trying to do my school projects is annoying when all of the computers/chromebooks don't have anything that I can use.
(And because they're district devices, you can't do much except for what they want you to)
So I end up having to either wait until my actual programming class (which is an hour long, and since we're sitting down at a computer it feels like 20 minutes) or I could wait until I get home and do it on my desktop PC.
So yeah, I think it'd be nice for a mobile Brackets (or other IDE, I just personally like Brackets)2 -
Working on HTML, we had to create a navigation bar at the top of the page so we could make it simple for people to get around.
I took maybe 10 minutes trying to figure out why the links wouldn't spread out across the top of the page instead of the unordered list I set.
Turn out I had page breaks, forcing it to stay as a list and not how I wanted it to work.
I head desked...1 -
What use is a MacBook?
Cause all it is is an overpriced laptop, that has the basic functionality and features that a regular and cheaper laptop has.
My friend and I concluded that all it's used for is to say you HAD $1000.9 -
1: Open my IDE
2: Think about how much I have to do
3: Try to do it
4: Eventually switch to YouTube2 -
I was talking to a few people at my school while playing with the Chrome dev shell, one of them told me to trace the path for Pornhub, after a bit I learned that the bottom IP was from Amazon Tech. After some more interesting searches I found out the Amazon placed a 3.4 billion bid to buy Pornhub.
I found this interesting to say the least.
(I don't know when this happened, I couldn't find a date)2 -
Whenever I see someone complaining that a game or something is taking forever to be made, I just want to sit them down and give them the tools to do it and say ¨Hey, you want it to be done? Go ahead and make it yourself¨ and then walk away.
