Before you even think pf building any apps, please pick a framework. Trust me, you'll be thanking me later :)

If you want very easy to setup and learn go with codeigniter... If you want the badass-do-anything with it - go with laravel. But laravel takes a while to master. Once you do - you'll be spoiled to death with all the goodies the framework provides ;)
