Description
Hi, me and @ThatDude would like to create a website containing stats, graphs and other more or less useful things about devRant. Let's see which creative ideas you have with the devRant API. How often has some user written fuck in their rants? Which user has gotten the most ++ in the last few days? A graph showing the ++ count of devRant Giants like @AlexDeLarge and @linuxx. Of course there are a lot of other things you can do with the devRant API and the data you get from it. From the technical point we will need a backend and a frontend (not anything surprising). I haven't decided on any language or frameworks yet, but the language I am most confident with is JavaScript so the backend might be made with nodejs / express, of course nothing is settled yet. Frontend wise I don't have that much experience with. (Only a bit of react and Vue), so we still have to decide on that. @ThatDude is pretty good at CSS (you have probably seen his smooth animations) The project is still in the idea stage so if you have any further questions just write a comment. Looking forward to your ideas, questions and of course people who want to help :)

If you want to help, just comment with what you would like to do (frontend / backend) :)

I really like Feathers js for backend personally. I recommend you to at least Google it!

This would be really really awesome and I would like to contribute!
Since I like to play around with quite a lot of things a can provide backend and Frontend development. Still not the absolutely greatest in any of both, but quite good :)

I think we should try Clojure + Om.Next.

Fearing I may be out numbered I will also vote for a P/React stack.

@Hedgepig well I have never worked with clojure before but I am open to learn new things :D

    Also Geolocation would be cool.
To see were ranters are coming from
  • 1
@Skayo would only be possible if they have put their location details on devRant

    I've sent you an email!

@Galrog unfortunately not enough support so we are going with Next.js for the moment and seeing how that goes.

I am playing around with clojure http api calls at work, so might be able to utilise it for the back end processing

    Thank you :)

@404response Feels good to know that the code I wrote out of boredom served as an inspiration. It would be amazing if we build it.

I actually made a small app which made a commit to a git repository everytime there would appear a new post containing 'fuck' on devRant! Stopped running it as soon as I noticed Github's activity graph wouldn't be all that interesting. You guys say fuck a lot.

    Progress?

It would be cool to search for any string of your choice in rants and filter by tags and users. I'll help make that happen if possible

Is this project still up and running?
I think I've kinda stolen your idea lol.

But actually I don't care. I like my site.
