An engineer was working on a windows server. Needed to partition something so typed 'part' in the windows search thingy (windows 10).

Few results found:
Participation laws
Part time working
Partial (something)

Engineer: Jesus fucking Christ I just want the FUCKING partitioner, windows what the actual fuck.

linux is so simple in this regard.
    lsblk
    fdisk /dev/sdx
    profit!

I hate having to navigate through windows.

You typed in a common word and expected what you wanted magically? Okay, definitely a windows problem.

I have to say if you don't know how to partition in windows you should not operate a windows server. I mean windows is crap and all but you can't expect it to work if you don't know to use it.

Windows 10 is not for server... Do i miss something?

Not going to lie I do this all the time and still blame Windows because I’m too lazy to type the full word.

what about search for the correct words? if you don't know an OS you should blame yourself... what if you seacrh for a query that doesn't correspond to anything in linux or macos? automagically works?

    EDIT
I just noticed that the query in the screenshot changed, actually I just searched for "disk" and than I moved the arrow

    Windows is life.

I am using some software that I downloaded off a random site... I think it is called "disk partition mini wizard" it is the best windows partition software I have ever used.. it let's me format a disk to file systems that windows doesn't even recognize.

Partitioning/formatting/etc on Windows sucks. I know how to do it, I know how the programs/commands are named - but most of the time I boot up a linux live system for that.

@theCalcaholic @ewpratten if you need basic portioning, formatting (with Windows fyle systems) is fine ... if not you need a 3rd party software

@dontbeevil Might have been Windows Server 2016
  • 3
@dontbeevil I needed 2 ext4 partitions and 1 exfat partition on an SD card..

Windows can't do any of that.

    @ewpratten yeah, like i said :)

@D--M yeah it is. I want to see programs listed first, not Bing search results
Also I’d love if I could search for the english name, even when on another language. Like you can on mac

@ChainsawBaby it show program listed first ... if you have actually installed something with that name

@dontbeevil With the *exact* name? Because the whole point of the search is, that you can use key words/parts of the name.

BTW I just searched part and guess what?

@dontbeevil Must have been another version then, the Interface was very windows 10ish :)

@dontbeevil Let me retract the windows 10 part as I'm not sure about that anymore.

    Rephrasing to: windows.

For simply opening applications installed on my machine the windows search is actually great.
But for everything else - even music files in my music library - it's the worst shit that exists. Can't find a single file on my computer and then on the other hand if I type some random other stuff I'm trying to find, it shows me a few rainbow table .txts I stored somewhere I don't even remember deep inside the file tree...
