Do people still use mouse mats? I thought they came about 'cos of the rolling ball mouse which are now mainly in landfill.

    I used one just because my optical mouse doesn't work well on reflective surfaces like my glass table in the office.

    Yup. Less abrasive surface for the mouse, so it stays slidey longer.

    Still use mat since optical can be shakey even when used on some wood patterns.

    I stand corrected, I just haven't seen them for a long time, so maybe that's an opportunity for @dfox. devRant mousemats! I'd probably start using one again.

    @Heatstreak Don't gamers use both special mice, pads and keyboards. As well as everything else? :)

    Interesting, you all seem to refer to them as mouse pads, UK (what's left of it) we call them mouse mats.

    @helloworld In sweden it's "musmatta" which would be mouse mat to the best of my knowledge.
