Epic team fail. I bought a mechanical keyboard, plugged it in typed one word and the team wanted to kill me.

I don't know much about keyboards, but turns out it had blue, very loud, very clicks switches.

Keyboard was unplugged, wrapped up and put back in the box ready to be returned.

I haven't met with such feedback from my colegues. But maybe my switches are not that clicky.

@Torbuntu I was wondering why people bother to get such expensive stuff till I got one myself - now I refuse to work without mechanical keyboard, it feels soooo gooood.

@Torbuntu I agree it is up to preferences, but I'd rather get less clicky one than work with non-mechanical one. Comfort matters a lot when I'm spending 40h/week, let's say 35h, typing, which makes about 20% of year in total (1820h). I'm lucky my coworkers do not mind me using it though.

Anyways I'm using Logitech G413 that has Romer-G switches. They are advertised as quieter than those commonly used (Cherry MX). It really seem to be silent.

@blem14 I'll have to check that one out!

I'm using a keyboard with brown switches so they aren't all that clicky. It's a good option. And awesome to type in.

Oh man I love my Pok3r. Couldn't live without a mechanical

Try browns instead, they’re like blues but without the click

    3 words: push to talk

Cherry MX Brown is where it’s at

Cherry Browns are the way to go, feel like blues, but without the audible click

Got browns at work as well. @Torbuntu you are not supposed to bottom them out as you feel when it's far enough.

For some very reason my keyboard at home feels even smoother than at work. Still the best keyboard in the place though

Second the suggestion for brown switches. Might also want to invest the money and time to fit it with o-rings for extra dampening.

@irene Yeah at some be meetup a guy showed me that he even filled his caps with foam (the liquid kind) to make them sound less hollow. He said it made the b most difference on the key up when you let the key spring.
Don't know where you can get the rings though.
