I forgot to add this:
God damn ElementaryOS is polished. It's so much nicer than Ubuntu. Only thing I had to do is install nvidia drivers and it worked. Took a bit of finagling to get the apps I needed installed, and one of the toolbar icons sometimes seems to expand by about a factor of five from time to time, but it worked pretty much out of the box. :D

So just today I stumbled upon Deepin OS (Linux Distro based on Debian) and it looks amazing! Arguably even bet...
Linux update! After spending the weekend installing and configuring Ubuntu, I decided I instead wanted ElementaryOS. I then proceeded to install that in an hour and 45 minutes. -_-
Anyway, I'm pleased with the result, and hopefully this will be good enough that I make the switch for real by buying a non-apple computer when I have the money--and urgent enough need--for an upgrade.
