I get amazed almost every work day by how buggy the File Explorer is in Windows 11.

Actually, it's the whole Microsoft experience, that never worked for me. Most products are not at all intuitive (e.g. Google Sheet UX > Microsoft Excel UX), some other products shouldn't even be released (e.g. I've tried Loop, which is supposed to be a Notion clone, but it's more like a cheap demo).

I really need to start insisting about Linux, so my employer allows me an installation (or at least they could provide a Mac, if Linux doesn't cut it)

    Used Windows from 98 to 10 and don’t rember it being particularly buggy. Once thumbnails were replaced by icons but can’t recall anything else. Remind me.

    @jiraTicket if you don't rant about Ms here you're not cool, doesn't matter how true it is... Try to work with tables in Google doc instead of word online... But of course no one will complain about that UX because it's Google not Ms

    @jiraTicket I've also used everything from Win 95 up until 11 (except Windows ME), but I was a kid most of the time. I wasn't even allowed to sit for hours in front of the computer, so I didn't find any problems. But a few years ago I started using Linux 95% of my time, and only recently had to switch back to Windows with the new employer. Since then, I'm unable to just glance over all the issues I face, not with just Windows, but the whole Microsoft suite.

    Getting back to the previously mentioned File Explorer: when the application cold starts (3-4 times a day, because I don't keep the window open), it takes around 5 seconds to load the quick access pane. I think that is an objectively long time for something that should be almost instantaneous. This never happened to me in Windows 10, for me that was a more stable version

    I condole you. My suggestion is buy a MacBook and work on it for seven years. When creating an image and blowing it up to use individual pixels, rejoice when the software ABORTS the image with lines and shit all across it; an image you've been working on for a long time and you have no backup of.

    Rejoice even further that Mac assigns fuckery numbers and letters to your images, duplicating them and adding memory to your system.

    Cry out with ecclesiastical harmony when Mac peforms an update without your knowledge or consent that wipes out an app you've been using and can't retrieve your work from.

    @Lasoloz I see, so it’s a win11 explorer issue. I stuck to win10 so haven’t seen it.

    Yeah 5 seconds for some quick access folders is unacceptable.
