@lorentz huh? We have huge unions in DK, they are not related to a single work place or company but across most of the field they cover, that's what makes them strong - workers can go on strike and basically kill a whole function nationwide (truck drivers did it when I was a child, shit was wild in the local grocery for a while!) Teachers have done it, nurses (though less effective because the state basically says 'lol, you can strike but only those of you that aren't needed to keep things going') and many other groups at one point or another. Shit works - when the garbage collectors stop coming by, people listen to what they have to say :-p
-
@levi2707 sure they do, but they are rare and a lot of them can seem good until you find their fatal flaw.
-
We need answers here @kiki, does it open the local mail client and prefill a mail, or does it actually send it?
My job security depends on your answer!
Best regards
Backend -
@saucyatom place I'm starting has table tennis and stuff you can absolutely use for brainstorming sessions :-D
-
nobody runs basic solution cleanup or checks warnings and messages either... god damn mess.
-
Just reminded me of Jonathan coulton, thanks :-)
-
Hansi! Get ze Flammenwerfer!
A.k.a burn that motherfucker of a codebase to the ground, only way to be sure. -
Sounds like a job for Hansi.

I had a company tell me "never pose ultimatums" when I came in for my second interview and said I wanted at least what i knew my friend had just been hired for.
Motherfucker, find someone better then, i dare you. We had a lot of disagreements over the years, but damn me if a day goes by i don't miss my old colleagues... -
@bittersweet oh that's brilliant. Mind if I steal that idea? :-p
-
Compiling and working is two very different beasts. Never heard anyone say "oh it compiles, let's ship it!" :-p
Well there was this one guy, but that's a longer story... -
Linux says hi :-D
-
The language of god is math. Gtf out of here with your snake charmer bullshit ;-)
-
Did he test them?
I mean it can be a minor change, or he could have replaced a bunch of pgsql script single quotes with doubles... -
@electrineer i love that you took the time to make that, rather than just write it out :-p
-
@saucyatom fwiw I'd rather have a service that recovers fast when disaster strikes, than one that hasn't had a disaster yet. Atlassian had some problems, but we were up and running the day after where i work at least.
-
@Floydimus come now, we've all thought about suicide at some point, doesn't mean you should do it.
-
@bittersweet if you're hiring in Denmark I'll stop by for pizza any time :-p
And i agree, something like that is fine, but i recently spent some time researching web frontend because the demo project should be a site with functioning api's. Spent a good three days since I was unemployed at the time anyway, aaaand got burned. Turned out they had some issues with the one in charge of recruiting and I've since received a formal apology from the CEO, but it made me very sceptical about doing any kind of 'homework' for recruitment processes.
I'm very happy with where i ended up, so it's all good in the end, but i do consider myself the wiser after it. -
@atheist reply with "oh you want a brainstorming session with a consultant for a day, that'll be 10 grand." :-p
-
@Rename same thing applies. GTFO ;-)
-
I would just... You know... Not.
Can't work without a specific tool or local harddisk access? Don't. Fucking. Work. But make sure you mention it all you can. Orgs like these have to learn this or they die if they depend on development, you're doing them a favor.
Whatever the hell you do, don't being your own laptop to do work you can't otherwise. They're your employer, this is their responsibility. -
So that's what makes the rabbit jump, glad i don't have to deal with that too much :-)
-
Just waiting on the librem 5 to get shorter queue now...
Can't wait to get out of these shit ecosystems. -
If it's hosted in your home, you need to port forward the servers' port in your router config.
-
Dude. Book. Now.
And stay away from startups i guess :-p -
@ElPapi42 so!? Did you get it!? :-D
-
@Root southern comfort and redbull would be more believable for me :-p
-
You may test that assumption at your convenience ;-)
-
Do you play that funky music, white boy?
-
@Demolishun it's just poor man's space engineers :-p
