@C0D4 Luckily I haven’t had to work with many SOAP libraries.
-
@Demolishun I’ll keep that in mind. Currently using java which might be part of the issue. Trying to troubleshoot ancient xslt files with a library that isn’t very debug-friendly.
-
@Demolishun Unfortunately that’s a version of reality that is not available to me. 🤷
-
@atheist Maybe revert back to their original code and start adding your own comments. Point out the flaws in the code that you previously addressed and ask them to clean it up and provide benchmarks.
-
When you have a small dev team it can be nice to have a UX designer there to talk with the product team for hours about the right wording for a button.
-
Best way to learn in my opinion. Taking the good practices from more senior devs and applying them in your own way. Just make sure to reject the bad practices when you realize them.
-
@kescherRant Ah I see. The process of figuring that out would probably be even more questionable lol.
-
Sounds like vacation time.
-
You could let them know and offer a solution for good karma.
As technology experts it is our duty to educate the less informed. -
@dan-pud There is a lot of truth to this. Perhaps the lack of experience is an opportunity to try thinking outside the box as well. I’ve always been able to draw from the experiences of more senior devs and reach a successful outcome.

@12bitfloat check out some of the talks that Alan Watts has on YouTube. He has written many books as well. Very relevant to how you are feeling.

ML isn’t an industry. It’s a tool you apply to problems in various industries.
You’re kind of saying that construction workers wouldn’t use a nail gun because they could just go become a fry cook. 😂 -
Same thing happened to me last night. Felt like I was 10 years old again.
-
Just tell them the truth. "I have the 1 day cold. You know, the one that's been going around for 3 years.."
-
Name it BradPitt.
-
I woke up my son while laughing at this.
-
Being good at programming doesn't translate well to interviews. Being good and designing solutions might be what you are looking for.
-
No truer words have ever been said.
-
@electrineer Perhaps you could Sway People if you Delve deeper and Share your Point with us.
-
Seems a bit... overloaded?
-
@Gregozor2121 Somebody get this guy an easy button.
-
@mcalis Im not arguing for or against but consider this framing.
I grew up in the western United States where our public school system spends a lot of time and effort making sure that children grasp how fundamentally wrong and evil slavery is. While this is definitely necessary, it comes with the cost of associating the verbiage with wrong and evil.
I will never be comfortable reading, writing, hearing, or saying these words because this is how I was raised.
With that said, I also recognize that this is not the case for everyone and solve this issue by choosing not to use the words. -
It seems like such a silly thing. There are many other equally meaningful ways to express the "master/slave" relationship. I have never used these words in a single program. I know some devs that use them everywhere. Not worth making a fuss about honestly.
-
@Midnigh-shcode You might be on to something here.
-
I'd write my own DB if I ever had to use Excel again. I'd call it "Not Excel".
-
@tacticalKimchi I just want to say that your username strikes fear into my heart. I can only imagine the pain of kimchi to the eyes.
-
What kind of people do you surround yourself with? 😂
-
Didn't realize there were dry erase boards with syntax highlighting.
-
Doesn't your boss know he should put it in a finally{}? 😂
-
🤦♂️Now I understand why my wife stopped listening to me talk about "this new framework".
