If you're on windows 'shift' + click on NO does a 'no to all'.
Or at leas it does on system popups. Failing that, just kill the program from task manager. You did save/auto-save right? -

@JustThat well I wasn't before, but I might now.
-
@Ranchonyx irgendwie...
Aber danke. -
@NoMad something like this?
https://fabiensanglard.net/tb3/...
I have simlar except iris keyboard and a laptop. I highly recommend -
@skylord holy shit, you might be right.
I come to devrant for the bitching and cynicism, I wasn't expecting insight.
Thanks! -
@Hazarth funny thing is, the business guys literally just do funding stuff and request features. All technical decisions are on our side. And we've no firm deadlines at all. E.g. I just spent 3 days working on relatively small performance improvements and refactoring to cut down on "expected" exceptions. So it's not them.
I think it's a personal issue. Procrastination? Lack of focus? I don't know. I don't want to be someone who needs pressure and deadlines to be productive.
There's a bit in the book "passionate programmer" (not a great book overall, I don't really recommend it) which talks about being processed oriented and not goal oriented. I.e. the focus should be on what we do every day and not that release at the end of the week (or whatever) -
@electrineer hunh... I didn't know that was a thing:

Not sure my soldering skills are good enough. Just about managed to assemble my keyboard from a kit with full instructions and even then I made mistakes -
@bagfox do you think just getting an external Bluetooth would do it? The laptop is pretty old I guess...
-
Ergonomics. I've found even with an upright mouse my shoulder and elbow getting sore so I got an apple magic touch trackpad. It's fantastic and really comfortable to use. When it works. Once a day or so it drops connection and I have to spend 30 minutes futzing with blueman to get it to work again.
-
All I can find online are jelly comb, Vogek and Logitech which all seem to be sold out everywhere.
-
@junon Oh and thanks for the tip on Robo3T I'm giving the community edition a try.
Is there any big advantage with the paid version? -
Ok, more comments here than I was expecting :)
Yeah, I'm criticising the client mainly because that's how I interface with the DB. And I _know_ that I don't know enough about the DB to criticise it. Stuff that seems wrong from a RDB isn't wrong, just different. And my fundamental approach to ordering/accessing data must change.
But I get to bitch about shitty UX in a client because I know it's shit.
And yes, it's BSON not JavaScript. It just seems so... clunky with all the (to me anyway) extra brackets and new rules I don't know yet. (yeah, I know, learn the fucking language before bitching... but this is my first impression)
The DB itself is fine. Mongo has a bad reputation but I haven't had any problems with it. And it's allowed us to scale up very nicely.
I do wish there was a way to actually forbid queries which don't use an Index (like RavenDB). I guess I have to stop being lazy and look at our metrics... :( -
I would recommend going and talking to a local recruitment agency. Right at the start its hard to land a gig. But once you have the first job it's easier from there. So, you've kind of got to eat that shit sandwich and take whatever code sweatshop job is available.
Startups and remote jobs are all fine but they won't touch you unless you're local (on site) or until you've got some experience. -
This is an appropriate response

Or... All your work is proprietary and you never had time for open source projects...
-
Yes. If you have a years time to prepare then you'll certainly have a job lined up given you're based in Sydney.
-
Cartoons, play dates (lots of other parents in exactly the same situation) and booze for mama and papa
-
Unfortunately, with a few rare exceptions, this is standard everywhere. Mgt says they want quality code but don't really encourage it... Schedule pressure, discouraging refactoring/updating, praising devs who bang out the most features/bugfixes (never mind the extra maintenance costs for the shitty hacks).
-
They will also accept a gerbil...

@Ythenius how big is the company?
-
How do you mean "nothing happens"? Like you're not assigned any work? No, it's not usual. But... If you're just out of college they may not know what to do with you.
If you want things to change then I would recommend talking to your manager. Otherwise either ask around what to do or do some learning for yourself. -
@bkwilliams qa tried selenium runner for sap and our in-house silverlight (!!!) App. Since then all requests to automate testing have been denied
-
@Ranchu e learning would require decent connectivity and technical capability... Just how long has digitialiazerung been promised?
-
@SortOfTested ah, I was asking more about income tax and social contributions for myself. As in, what's the most sensible employment arrangement for everyone...
-
@SortOfTested I have a feeling freelance is out because if they're your only client, the tax people see that as an attempt to avoid taxes and you should really be treated as an employee.
-
Intentionally? In 15 years, one. And I'm pretty sure the next dev took it out.
Such is life in enterprise shops. -
Good for you! Hope the new position suits you better. As someone who spent too long in a boring as fuck mid sized German enterprise company, it's always better to get out earlier.
Before they drag you down with their mediocrity. -
An out of date wiki none reads, scribbles on whiteboards and mountains of printed paper, 99.9% of which is irrelevant.
