Some commenting is reasonable you are right but if you have to comment all of the logic it is a sign of bad code. If you follow the clean code paradigms your code should speak for itself. Regarding good documentation you are right , they are very very useful than again they shouldn't explain the code itself

There are several great programming books that are timeless. I would read them. Books that are outdated after 2 years are not worth buying , rather read documentations of these techs

I would totally go the decimal way. Set the constraints to only allow 2 digits after the semicolon. I think it's way less error-prone

Have you perhaps adder some external libraries/module/whatever which are very big

I used to have the same problem . The thing is that you have to concentrate on the smallest task possible and complete them . The more you want and have to do, the more you lose focus
