So, I had to listen very badly in a scrum about my poor code quality. Just because I haven't used the latest version of the library in my gradle build file, I haven't used DTO in the response of few endpoints in the controller class instead I used entity,... Etc was the mistake.
I admit that I have a long way to improve myself and there is a lot to learn, but there should be a proper way to escalate the situation rather than publicly pointing out mistakes rudely.
He is a senior with 10+ years of experience who badly told me in the scrum and not only that whenever there is a change needed in my PR he takes the screenshot and puts it in our dev team group and shows the mistakes and gives the suggestions instead of writing comments on the github PR.
Not only that, if I inform in the daily updates that I took 2 hours for this and that task, he says it should be done in 20 to 30 minutes.
Upper management has given him a lot of respect because he is knowledgeable and knows the stuff but it doesn't mean he is entitled to behave like this and demoralise other juniors.
The matter is cool now but this incident happened to me a few months back and those days were really toxic for me at work.6 -
The upper management told my colleague to remove #opentowork from linkedin. It's becoming a toxic environment day by day here. Partiality and Favoritism is at its peak. As I started doing a job hunt for a switch, I found there are so many people out there applying for jobs.4

When there are multiple third party services getting used in your spring boot application. How do you manage their API creds.
Like I use Aws Secret Manager for the keys and different account level info. But after fetching in the application in runtime should we create classes to hold such info or just class variables are enough?
I'm more curious about the coding standard practices of different developers in the globe.10 -
Here, code reviews are not happening 🙁☹️
When the actual error comes to the prod, we dig into the logs and figure out the reason.
The project is not stable and in the development phase, so requirements are coming too much every month with deadlines.
Deadlines are mostly 1 to 2 weeks.
Sr. Devs mostly merge PR without reviewing it.
I had lots of opportunities though due to various requirements like I learnt AWS dynamo DB, S3, and a few things regarding EC2.
But the coding standard which needs to be learned that I think I'm lacking because my code is not getting reviewed.
Not only about coding, we have to create a ticket in Jira for our task which is decided in the scrum and needs to assigned to ourselves.
In the name of scrum, there are 1 to 2 hours of meeting where they started brainstorming about new requirements and how we are going to implement them.
What should I do to make my code more cleaner and professional?1 -
Last month, I learnt Docker via the 1 hour crash course of the YouTube video.
Now, I don't remember all the content of that video which made me think that I should start making notes.
I understand the basic fundamentals of the Contanarization and a couple of commands.
But I still feel like I'm lacking the whole picture of the docker.
I wonder what other devs do to learn new tech and also about note taking habit for revisions.6 -
Hey everyone,
When I was in college, I used to wish to do some freelancing work to earn some amount.
But I never did it due to lack of experience and knowledge.
Now, I've been working in a Small IT company for one year and I'm confident enough that I can do it.
I'm interested in making APIs as a freelancer.
I've few doubts here,
Once the API is developed is it a freelancer's job to deploy it in some cloud instance or they just need to share the code?
If the client wants the freelancer to deploy it on their behalf then do the freelancer have to create his account for example in AWS for deployment?
Also, Do freelancers have to set up and maintain all the DB for the APIs?5
