@donkulator There is that. aha. I'm not actually a dev for the plugins, just been roped into doing this :'(
-
@vintprox Maybe we should use mm instead? Would help all these people when printing
-
The only thing to top this is when someone tries to use .X of a PX aha
-
@12bitfloat 100% this!!
-
@endor yep. In fairness, first time this has happened as I'm usually alright at writing atleast some reference but this was a bad one. Lesson to the younguns!
-
These times properly suck. You'll kick-ass and get there eventually! We're rooting for ya! (pun not intended)
-
Despite having build issues when utilising react, I didn't find it too bad. Having said that, it didn't utilise that many resources so I was happy with it. Currently rolled out to 30 users and is a training program with a substantial amount of content and packaged documentation.
Was ultimately a useful tool to get a cross platform application in a short time frame.
OTA updates were a plus too -
@Demolishun Thanks! Worked out in the end. 9 month agreement :D
-
A funny turn of events. An apology from the boss in question and a retainer signed so they keep me for 4 days a month for almost the same money as I was earning full time. They've decided not to hire someone else and to just outsource to me. Essentially just trippled the hourly rate they currently pay me 😏
-
@matyjb I laughed way more than I should have at that!
-
@netikras standard is usually 1 month. I tried to leave 18 months ago but decided it wasn't the right time so had to agree to a 3month notice period so if I decided to leave they had enough time to find my replacement as I'm the sole dev. They also wanted to try and make it harder for me to leave. Didn't work though 🤣
-
@bols59 he can worry all he likes! :)
-
@Demolishun yes this is genius! Who knows when they will hire a replacement.. I'm the only dev so eh...
-
@ethernetzero Ikr. I think that comment is what got to me the most. Do you think that little of me that I'm that stupid?!
-
@Jaspreet3480 sorry to hear that. It will make leaving all that much better though. Onwards and Upwards.
-
@Voxera indeed it was. Been holding out for 3 months to make sure I get paid to the end of the year!
Thank you! -
@TheCommoner282 This is pretty much my approach. Joy of being on salary is that I get paid either way :P
It'll be done, when it's done -
@BoomRaccoon hey, the fact it may be more like 2-3 isn't the point here! haha
-
Pretty much all of the above!
-
@cb219 Sorry, realise I wasn't very clear. What was the original problem?
-
When did you put a camera in here?
-
Curious to know the reason for doing this?
-
@codefreak that sucks! I'm already having nightmares about how much work they are going to load me up with. I'm the only dev here so I fear they are going to pput loads of pressure on to get projects finished before I leave :/
-
@sylar182 ahh i see! I mean, progress is progress and that is always a positive to see. Just depends if you feel benefit from it too!
Good luck for whichever direction you take, sometimes just job hunting gives you a better perspective -
I felt like this 2 years ago and did end up looking for a new job. Got offered one and ultimately, was convinced to stick around. It was a mistake. I should have left.
The problem doesn't go away, you just get paid a little more to put up with it. But as the compnay grows, you deal with more and more. Ultimately, what part of your job do you want to be doing and do you want to keep doing 2 jobs with the companies growth over the next 3-5 years?
I decided it wasn't right and am leaving at the end of this year because 2 years after I first tried to leave, not a single thing has changed. -
All the bloody time!
-
@Fast-Nop Interesting approach, I'll consider this method in the future. As a sole dev I tend to find my own working method so thank you!
-
@Fast-Nop Interesting thoughts. How would you split between production and development?
-
@deMark We lost close to 50 tape backups when bringing them back on-site from our off-site storage. Car Accident + Flames = Bye Bye Backups.
-
@thevariableman There are 4 devs but they are expanding and it appears to be a 'it worked this long' type scenario. Hopefully, we can change that over time. Bloody annoying when setting up local environments etc though!
