@CptFox I have read and watched reviews of the Lenovo Thinkpad E570. Heard good things about it so far and the keyboard is supposedly nice. it's also 899 so probably a great bang for your buck.
-
@ryanmhoffman are all thinkpads viable? I see some great i7 - 256gb ssd - 8gb ram - IPS displays for only €1000~ but they are really ugly imo.
-
@ewpratten Yeah. I love reading documentation. Especially Harry Potter!
-
@ElToastGrande 😂
-
@MojoJojo I get a 404 error when clicking on the API link 🙁
-
How do you get this?
-
@ElToastGrande Well, that doesn't increase my git commit activity now. Does it?
-
Yeah, but have you tried collaborating on a website with your partner?
-
I guess I will be trying LibGDX first! 😄
-
Meanwhile, my family and friends think software engineering is the most generic field of study in existence and think this industry is going to be automated or saturated very soon.
-
@AnasTr I know a friend who used LibGDX as well. Looks like a decent library. It's not a full engine though! I want to learn a lot in the process too. Unity has much handholding.

I wish there was a Spirit Guard Udyr or Pool Party Renekton figure!

@AleCx04 Late reply, but currently I'm making a portfolio website with Flask. Java might be great for really big enterprise web applications, but building a web application on your own (so sideprojects) with Java Spring or Play! seems very overkill to me. 😁
-
I usually buy a course on something like udemy or watch a course on Laracasts / Lynda. Video tuts are great and thorough but I think they take up so much time that I usually only follow 50% of a course before I try to just create a project by myself, read documentation, bump some music and use the video tuts for reference. I have the same with books; I can only finish them for like 50%.
I might have the attention span of a goldfish -
@px06 I agree. I was just curious about your opinion of the salary.
-
@Totchinuko Yeah it's a shame it got no multiplatform release but as a Dark Souls fan, Bloodborne was the reason I bought the PS4. No regrets though. Since it has awesome exclusives.
-
@Totchinuko True, Bloodborne is a PS4 exclusive. Even without it's difficult combat, Bloodborne would still be an awesome game 😁
-
I knew what I was expecting when clicking on the gif but I only started laughing after watching the last two characters slide.
-
@mzeffect Bloodborne is a great competitor though. Both are two of my most favorite games of all time.

As someone who doesn't use Twitter and only Facebook for like once a month.. I can not relate to this problem. I hate how you have to login to view comments on a tweet unless you press at the top at the tweet. Then you don't have to login. Very odd.
-
The salary is still decent right? Not great but average?
-
@irene Java developer spotted.
-
So should he read "Clean Code" or "Code Complete?" 🤔
Also, I still need to (re-)read that design patterns book. I read it like half way but forgot everything about it -
Hmmm, I mostly use it for web development now because I don't know a better option for web development. Javascript is great but I'd need to relearn that whole language in depth. Java is overkill for web applications and ruby is kind of dead. Same for PHP, though Laravel is a great framework.
Edit: maybe C# with asp.net but just as Java it is overkill as well. Those 2 languages are mostly used for enterprises web applications. -
I'm missing the hobnibble.
