YEP, I totally agree.
Normally you get the hint "We don't have the money for unit tests. Just write correct code in the first instance."
Well yes, STFU. :D -
@vigidis Did you watch "Star wars" or "Jurassic park"? I watched the capitalized versions, they were bigger. ^^
-
Isn't C# 8 around the corner, already? Like to see it soon, to start stop caring about NullReferenceExceptions. :)
-
Maybe but at first I should learn how to use git at all. :D
-
@willol Oh yes. I hate this type of bashing. Too few people are willing to to ask "why", instead skipping that part and directly start to rant.
It's fine to rant if the reasons are rubbish but not if you're too lazy to do some research. ^^ -
Would look much more serious if he had used Comic Sans. 🤮
-
@kai18 Good point.
Isn't it racist if you call all people with an Asian look Chinese? Maybe she is Vietnamese, Malay etc. :p
Regardless what you choose, somebody always will tell you that your are an racist because of your choice. ^^ That's why I hate such debates. -
Were in the USA last year for business trip and the locals told me not to go to KFC. Never!
So probably KFC meals is more a measure of sickness than wealth. :D
Anyway greetings to Burma. More or less the other side of the earth from Germany. :) -
No user issued action should cause a program to throw uncaught exceptions or similar. And yes the UX is often a huge problem, too.
But yep there are dump users out there. It is fun and terrifying when you read play store reviews about apps that doesn't serve some users needs but the app never intended to have this functionality. Too bad no example here to show. ^^ -
@namenlossss Hail to the teapot. :D
-
@b3b3 As sad no offense. A website for a single person might not be worth the effort. ^^
All the distros and their different approaches to solve the same problems with only slight variations is another story and one of the reasons why Linux doesn't get a higher market share. But that's something for another discussion. -
No offense, just a serious question: Is this really helpful? Noone wants to move from Windows to Linux to play games there. If there would be some demand, then someone would download Steam and play via Linux but the market share for Linux based Steam installations is falling every month. In November it was below 0.3%. http://store.steampowered.com/hwsur...
Will be similar for non steam game installations, probably. I know some Linux users but noone is interested in gaming. And who is interested in gaming is most often not interested doing kernel updates, regular distribution upgrades.
I encourage you to do whatever you want to do but keep in mind that your community will be smaller than Trumps brain. ^^ -
@BindView First it was only an example why context is important when it comes to searching with very few words.
Second you are still looking up programming stuff so guessing python is a programming language for is more likely what you are looking for than for someone who works with snakes.
Please do not get me wrong. DDG is far better than the German version of Bing and is close to Google but Google gives me slightly better results for most searches. Of course DDG has some nice features. I would like to have a symbiosis of both search services. :) -
@ewpratten Yeah, good that I have left the school before they had internet access. :) I would go crazy if they want to force me to use some software because they have contracts with them. At school you have no choice. If my employer wants me to program in eclipse I could easily quit but at school...
-
I used DDG long time ago and then thought: screw you you rubbish results!
Honestly Google works so good because they know you.
They know that I am interested in programming so "python" doesn't show a snake that wants to hug me but the programming language. ;)
I mean they do all this tracking primarily to show ads which do cost more for the advertising company. This is OK for me. You should be aware of. So you shouldn't wonder if they advertise you some sex toys only because you looked them up at home and you sync your chrome at work using the same account. :D That's why you have private modes in all browsers.
It is absolutely correct to always keep in mind privacy and it is fine if you and who else disagrees with their terms of use. But it is also OK if someone accepts them on purpose. -
@Gogeta70 lol yes uint32_t and * after the return type. I have only read Node and immediately thought NodeJS ignoring the rest of the listing. :)
-
Shouldn't a linter inform you that not all code paths will return value?
At least a decent compiler would do that but this is JS... -
TFVC for the win! 😀
Now come and slap me. ^^ -
@marcom Yeah he would just buy the wohle f**king store and smash every single stupid IPhone.
Oh wait that would be what I am doing if were as rich as him. 😂 -
@PonySlaystation You shouldn't check passwords on the server. Because if the server has the password, then something is wrong. You meant the hashes of the passwords.
You know I had to correct you after you did it with the OP. 😋 -
@fckIE We were 100 employees with 20Mbit/s in 2014-2015. Luckily after one of continus complaining they agreed to upgrade to 50 and recently to 100.
Now it is fine. At home it is still twice as fast and only two persons to share it. 😀 -
Monitors are so cheap, below 200 €/$ for a simple one bought by a company. And a second screen improves the productivity a lot. I just cannot understand why this Invest is so often a problem...
-
It is already an anti pattern to force users to change the password regularly. Because that often leads to users using patterns to generate passwords so they are easier to guess. This way users can remember their pw easier.
Doing that too for my user account at work because I cannot use keepass before being logged in. :) -
@JS96 Maybe "Japorized" is Sheldon's devRant account? 😀
-
@thevariableman Yeah WAP FTW! 😂
-
@ScribeOfGoD And still he complains that dev does not respond in time. 😁
-
Every time one of my work mates writes such commit messages I want to switch in rage mode. 😁
-
What's the difference compared to Visual Studio Team Services? I thought that is for CI/CD? Is that service for "apps" only, so restricted compared to VSTS?
-
@okkimus Isn't 18 the age when you are allowed to start drinking alcohol, not to stop that? 😂
-
Thanks, now I'm hungry, again. :/
