@Stuxnet Yup, exactly. The hype around it is doing more damage than the actual virus (lets leave the "human lives are priceless" emotional argument to the side).
-
Also, your anecdotal evidence is cute. I'd accept some real paper on it, but the sjw social studies have poluted the landscape lately, so it's hard to judge what is a real trustworthy source.
Even if there are more men "mansplaining" than women, so what? Women do other annoying things. Who cares, we're different. Stop artificially hammering the wedge in between men and women. Stop using buzzwords. -
@CyclingMatt What is a strawmen in "not all men"? Mansplain that to me, please. You can't, because I'm right. So who's the one making strawmen here, again? Dont project your cognitive disonance nonsense at me.
The problem isnt about men or women. There's plenty of men AND women that like to offer/push their unsolicited opinions onto you, and worse, expect you to acknowledge them as important and correct, even if they arent or you dont care.
The problem here is the psychologically and sociogically impaired people that baloon their ego when giving advice and people getting all upset when recieving advice, as if thats a big problem. The problem is the weak communication and socialization/mental issues of the particular people. This is exasperated over the internet, as it's hard to judge the real intentions, and theres a more superficial interactions and "rules".
We need some system to help people in the current world, because people are more and more lost. -
Seems I was quite wrong on the mortality rate. My apologies. But the rest of what I'm saying still stands.
-
@Kashmir Sure, the reports vary. I'm curious to see the numbers of the aftermath.
-
@PonySlaystation Besides, absolute numbers are not bad like you seem to imply. They are a part of the picture. They do mean something.
And I do talk about the relative, you just like to skip that part and fallaciously state that I dont. -
@heyheni Sure thing, as soon as they stop insulting me, I will stop.
-
@PonySlaystation yeah I know they have the potential to spread exponentially. Yet, they dont. Because of different population distributions, differences in populations, measures to stop them, terrain, climate, seasons, etc.
To quote you back at yourself: "Please think about that."
So who's the one thinking in absolute numbers here. -
f) Check what numbers? I didnt mention any numbers related to what you're saying. Please set fire to your strawman and take that broomstick out of your ass.
g) No where did I say corona cant spread faster/farther/longer, and that it's not dangerous. I just dont like all the hype around it, which is causing a lot more problems.
h) your argument that lower mortality viruses can be worse isnt helping you, because corona and flu have about the same mortality, the flu has it a bit higher, so theyre in pretty much the same basket if we look at it like that. -
@PonySlaystation
a) Dont insult me, you retard - just returning the favor.
b) Don't put words into my mouth. Quote where I said "it's just a flu". Sure, I made a comparison, because they share some similarities, but no where did I say they are the same.
c) I didn't say we're all going to die. I'm just trying to balance all the bullshit media that builds panic and damages economies.
d) Don't assume things about me. I have a pretty solid scientific background.
e) Sure, incubation times and other details are different, yet the fact remains that the flu kills more people on average (if my quick sources are correct), has killed much more people this year, and is very much free to spread, since forever. Yet the media does not give two shits about it, while they push people into a frenzied panic about corona. -
@hitzoR Listen here you moron (if you're insulting me, let me return the favor). Did I say somewhere that one should spread it, or not be careful? Stop putting words into my mouth to fit your narrative and frustrations. At the time I wrote that, there were about 100 confirmed dead in Italy, so stop with your bullshit lies. If you dont like facts, go sell prayer cures and homeopathy.
As for elderly, we all have someone elderly we care about, so your little emotional guilt trip tricks can fuck off. -
@PonySlaystation what terrible situation? Man, just like 100 people died. Thats nothing. 0.00002% of the population.
I'm pretty sure the flu killed a lot more people than that, and the flu mortality rate is higher, yet you see no one talking about it. -
So far, the common flu has a higher mortality rate than corona, and has killed like 15x more people this year, if my sources are correct. Yet you dont see anyone freaking out about it.
-
Can you stop with "mansplaining". You're acting like women are unicorns, and you're generalizing men. That's not good for anyone.
Men and women are different, we both have strengths and weaknesses. Your comments will not change the fundamental truth of that. -
You mean instagram.

Yeah, I'm kinda in the same boat. Minus gf.

Theres another nice relativistic example: if you drove fast enough, a red traffic light would appear green to you.
-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
If you move with high speeds, lets say at least 10-20% of the speed of light, the colors (wavelength and frequency of light) you see changes because of your motion. There are more effects present that would distort the picture, so it would be harder to read.
It's kinda the same idea when you are driving in the rain, the faster you drive, the more frequent the raindrop hits. It's not quite the same, but you get the idea. Another non-relativistic example is an ambulance driving by with sirens on: while moving towards you, you hear the sirens in a higher than actual frequency, and when driving away from you you hear it in a lower frequency. -
@AshesOfTheSun small farms are harder to automate, and automation is expensive, so it's mostly used on big farms and land.
Even if you automate things, it's still a lot of work, as there's lots of things that are not automated, and there's maintenance.
A garden is fine for regular people, there's lots of work, some of it is relaxing, some is hard. You get to see it grow, and eat the product of the work of your hands, enjoy the process. Going bigger than that will make your life worse, and living fully off the land is hard work. -
Really old developers. *SENIOR* developer. /s
-
Trust me, you dont want to live fully off land. Living off your physical labor is a lot harder than coding.
Having a small garden is fine, but dont fool yourself about running a full farm. -
Kung Fury is free, on YouTube. Watch it!
It's not even long, ~30 min of awesomness, if i remember correctly. -
"Fuck you, Kung Fury!" - famous last words.

@SomeNone you have constraints that x must not be 0, otherwise theres division by 0. You also have a constraint that y must not be 0, for the same reason.
Another constraint is z = x^2, which doesnt need to be true, as we already know the values for z and x. If they do not satisfy z = x^2, then the 2nd eq. is false, or the values for x and z are false, which means we cant find y.
If those constraints are met, then you cant do what you did with the first expression, as it isnt an equation. Theres a mistake in your last step; i have no idea how you got y = z/n there, as ny and ny would cancel, so you wouldnt be left with either y or n. You would be left with 1/x^2 = 1/z, which is z = x^2, which is what you started with. -
@RANTSMCPANTS Division by 0 cant be handled if we're talking about baisc math algebra.
n/0 is undefined. Doesnt matter what you multiply it with (even 0). Even if n = 0, you have 0/0 which is also undefined. 0*infinity is also undefined.
I didnt say that y is useless, on the contrary, I said it can be any number besides 0, if those other conditions are met.
----‐-------
I guess i wasnt clear enough:
The first expression can be 0 only if n is 0. If n is not 0, the first expression can have any value, except 0. That is because y must not be 0, to avoid division by 0 in the 2nd equation, but can be any other number (as that satisfies the 2nd eq.).
This all hinges on the 2nd equation being solvable for y, which is only true for x not 0, y not 0, and z = x^2. It is then solved by any y that is a real number different from 0. -
If we're talking about real numbers here - the second equation is valid for any real y, except 0. This is only valid if x is not 0, and if z = x^2, otherwise, there's no solution.
So you can pick any value you want for y (not 0), and use it in the first expression to calculate how much it is.
This basically means that the value of the first expression can be anything you want (except 0, unless n =0).
