@Lensflare Microsoft tried it and failed because Windows Phones weren't successful. If I'm not mistaken, Samsung has tried something similar, maybe with the blessings of Microsoft. They seem to be best buds these days.
-
@M1sf3t What would you call their genre? I think it was classified as rock back in their days.
-
If you're on Windows 10, you can try Gravit Designer from Corel. It's not OS, but it's free.
-
@ScribeOfGoD Not a fan of rock music, so I'll pass! 😉
-
@SortOfTested I dabbled a bit into Linux some years ago. I've never found it to my liking.
I am a devout follower of Windows... -
@OneOfSimpleMind Sad, depressing news make more revenue than happy+uplifting.
-
@AlgoRythm At least when Apple copies something, they do it well. When Microsoft tries it, most probably it will be a failure.
-
@Demolishun Ah, those cheeky bastards made it unremovable! I had uninstalled it once not so long ago...
Indeed, a very dick move of them! If I find something about it, I'll let you know. 🙁 -
@Demolishun It blocks Windows Update from installing the new Edge. But first you have to uninstall the New Edge from Settings > Apps > Apps & Features. If memory serves me right, you don't need to restart your system after the uninstallation. I repeat, this is about the NEW Edge.
Removing the OLD Edge, you try the instructions here:
https://itechway.net/uninstall-micr...
(OLD Edge was my main browser, so I never bothered uninstalling it...)
And yes, Microsoft is quite aggressive pushing the new Edge. I totally hate the move into Chromium (or anything Google related), but I'm using it and oddly enough is a very decent browser. They have done quite good work on RAM consumption.
So there you go, you can get past the initial shock and try the new Edge, or you can remove it from your system and ignore the old Edge. -
@Demolishun You got the update with the forced New Edge.
You can uninstall it and revert back to the old Edge.
Then you can go to this link, follow the instructions and block the update for an unknown time:
https://bleepingcomputer.com/news/...
I hope that was more helpful than the rest you've found on the Web... -
@AlgoRythm Well, Microsoft is not known in being a consumers' company... Only Xbox seemed to be working, I don't know for how much long though.
-
@JS96 From what I've understood they're moving the user-base and the streamers will get some new contracts with conditions as "close" as those they had with Mixer.
I think Facebook is not competing with Microsoft in many sectors, maybe AI and A/VR? The other two big platforms are owned by rival companies, aka Amazon and Google. -
@Frederick Double standards depending on the revenues each streamer brings?
-
@Frederick I was using Twitch way prior the Amazon purchase, since it was the only platform. I've lost track on what is happening on game streaming these days.
-
All the renaming just reminds me of the book "1984" now...
-
@Fast-Nop You mean there shouldn't be any posts of "devFluencers" doing sexy poses in front of their machines? (just being silly... 😅)
-
@Mba3gar How so?
-
@JFK422 Samsung would also to pick it up, had MS been consistent on their mobile strategy.

I think the question suits better a neuroscientist. Honestly, the moment we will understand fully how our brain works, we will make a human-level AI. So far we have to create that of a simple worm.
In my opinion, deep down in our collective mind is the fear that we are just meat machines. Given the relevant neurochemical stimuli, we act no differently than our creations. Will that matter in the extremely long-term? From a nihilistic point of view, we already know that our universe has an expiration date, albeit we will not exist to witness it. Then you have the theory that we are simulation programmes. Or consider the teachings of any religion about the Divine and the afterlife. Free will could be an illusion. If so, does that make life less worthy experiencing it? Would rather remain blissful and ignorant or would rather have the knowledge that you don't hold any power over your actions? Just some thoughts before putting my brain into sleep mode. -
@Alice: But I use a pink background... 😥
@52cal: Windows Phones are already dead. That's official for quite a while. MS is mostly focused on cloud with Azure these days and bringing Windows apps to Android & iOS.
@asgs: Well, early in WP8 it was possible to install Android apps, but the feature got removed fast. Since Microsoft decided to pull the plug for Mobile, I doubt they will make a Winux/Lindows solution. -
@devTea Wiser words have never been said...

Good luck on the results! -
@-Minty- I remember Waterfox's main selling was it was 64-bit. Ever since Firefox built the x64 version, I made the hop. I don't know how it distinguished itself after that.
-
Yes and yes
-
@git-gud I will sum it up briefly:
1. Extreme "political correctness". I have stopped following Mozilla for quite awhile, so I don't know if this has changed.
2. I don't remember reading a similar statement from them when Opera did the switch.
3. It's not about "losing diversity in browser ecosystem", it's about them becoming more marginalised. -
@git-gud I've never mentioned anything about privacy. I don't care about it.
-
@-Minty- Are there still any Firefox-based browsers out there? I remember Waterfox and Palemoon for being the only 64-bit for quite a while. There was some drama concerning Palemoon and the addons when Mozilla decided to make changes on how they worked. As for Chrome, it's been already written on the main thread post. 🙂
@Jilano So, running a Linux VM on Windows, just to have QuteBrowser?
@Codex404 Maybe I will try it for the "lulz". It runs from Win95 till NT, so there's a chance it's still operational on Win10. 😁 -
@irene Let's just say I am currently not happy with Microsoft ditching one product after the other. Edge could be even better than the aforementioned products, still I would be bitter using it. So, Opera for you.
-
@stisch Or you could try doing a challenging project outside your work. That way you will not have the job pressure and you won't feel going soft.
