@Toasty The maintainance part is the problem. "Non-IT" people don't want to and often cannot handle this. It means paying someone else to fix it, and that costs them both time and money.

For me that would be like my car breaking down and having to turn it in to the shop. It will be both expensive and time consuming.

Therefor you can save them some trouble by installing a user friendly linux distro with the tools they need. But sadly, at least here in sweden they often need some propriatary windows only software to manage their banking, so back to linux it is.

@Toasty I think what most are referring to is that windows tends to get slower over time due to automatic things in the background which you often don't get on a linux distribution.

I reinstall my windows systems every other year do to this, but also because i tend to get wierd bugs.

My understanding is that Linux is also superiour att cleaning up trash files.

@olback I think it's supposed to be just the openSSH client (and soon server) on windows.

So you should be able to use openSSH keys. I havn't tried yet though. I am one of those using subsystem or putty :P .

It doesn't have anything to do with the subsystem. It's a native application by Microsoft.

I recently started using vscode. The only thing i don't like is that it tends to freeze or get really slow sometimes. Would love to use sublime for everything but vsc is just so easy to set Up.

And i just switched to plasma and i love it... And i use nvidia :/

Had the same issue at my school where the teachers printed out all users passwords in clear text to hand out.

After that i made sure to always use a password i don't use anywhere else. 🙃

But the thing with pulseaudio is that it works automagically, but when it doesnt there hardly isnt any documentation. That's where alsa shines, but it needs alot more configuration.

Generally the video server and sound sucks in Linux and has sucked since the start.
