And here I did the complete opposite..... My mom thought it was wizardry and that 2 people were actually controlling all the physical controllers. Told her software basically ran it and explained it and was frustrated she still thought it was black magic

I'm ok you guys. I find it amusing in hindsight. And clearly no lasting damage being that I'm in computers ;).
They did apologize years later too of them feeling bad for doing that.

It's worse when people put that title on you. I want to be treated like a software developer that just so happens to be a girl.
Get all stressed out that they are putting a different standard on me and that I'm actually an awful developer in the grand scheme of things and I really only have this job because I'm a girl and they are fitting a quota.

My boss accuses me of being sexist and disrespectful towards women a lot. Like every other week. Like I'm corrected on calling myself a girl, or that I prefer the generalized term guys for a group of people (not guys and gal). Or that I can't say that the reason why I'm good at communicating is because I'm female and it tends to be stressed more growing up.

Also claims to have 18 years of experience. At max he has 10 years. WHY

It has happened a lot. My boss is AWFUL at screening. I'm beginning to think he goes for length not actual content.
But I'm beginning to wonder if this guy uses variables ... I don't see it mentioned in the resume yet

@ALivingMemory At my job there's a lot of math involved for the machinery.
But it was mainly a quicker way to get across the mindset of the job and what it entails. He was thinking he could just walk in and figure it out and just needed to learn what buttons to push. Not no we actually program the computer.... And I was kinda irritated he thought my job didn't require any knowledge or real training.
Main point was no computer or programming background whatsoever. Best guy at my workplace has no degree so I know you don't need it. But it's not an easy job

@dfox the class I mainly teach is very much FLL challenges (first Lego league).
We do have themed camps though like for Minecraft the kids made creepers that exploded (camps are designed for beginners) and we also have them program in Minecraft. Sometime I really want to post the stuff the kids have made because they are awesome

@bioDan I have actually done that years ago because I got irritated that people would be using them interchangeably. The dork, dweeb, geek, and nerd. Ill probably do a post on it later. But actually you can be a smart dork and not a nerd. Simple definition of nerd is an interested in more tangible items like books and boardgames, you might not be silly and goofy. Dork you don't need those interests and you just like being silly and goofy. You can be a dork and a nerd and a geek technically

@veslav Dork tends to mean you're goofy, odd, don't really care what others think.
And I can be intelligent on rare occasions. There are stories and legends about it. ;)
