It's kinda bloated and unity is slooow. Also they do some really edgy stuff like the thing with Amazon ads and tracking.
And instead of investing in Wayland they decided to put a lot effort in Mir which failed in the end...
In the end they are willing to learn from their mistakes.
But I still recommend most people to begin with Linux Mint. -
Don't hate C++! C++ is awesome!
Unfortunately most profs teach you C instead of C++ :( -
I played BUGG, but since they can't fix their shit after such a long time (and shitload of money!!) I gave up.
-
(modern) C++
There is always something new and awesome to discover in C++. To be able to make stuff efficient and beautiful/elegant. -
@sergiolarosa89 that's correct. Intentionally I thought to use the vertical monitor to read papers/websites, but since its to much on the left side , lack of space to get it more centered :( , I use it more as a communication/info Monitor (htop, telegram, slack, discord etc.)

@Jilano Arch Linux since I need the latest GCC and Clang versions. Used it before, but only on my laptop. Now it's on my main rig. (With i3 as window manager).

Have a look at https://sites.google.com/view/... from Reddit /r/headphones

@Gophyr I'm currently setting up my private wireguard setup (rpi at home <-> my vserver <-> some VPN host who supports wireguard <-> the interwebz) and I'm astonished how easy and fast wireguard is! Unfortunately I still need an openvpn fallback solution for my Laptop and mobile phone because my university doesn't support UDP with eduroam :(

I use AdAway, but it requires root since it works with the hosts file :|
But it's super effective -
Thank you all very much for the feedback! I'll dig into vanilla js and freshen up my css/html knowledge for now than!

@Consolelog
Maybe I should have explained it a bit better: I display multiple tables and the ordering depends on the URL arguments (like myurl.com/table1/table3/table2/ etc). I thought it would be cool, if you could change the order of the tables by using drag & drop, instead of fiddling with the url. -
@gintko Well said!
And to compensate the shitty performance of those huge ass webapps we require better hardware. And than they can abstract that even more, because hardware got faster.... Neverending cycle. -
Reminds me of LaTeX

@oudalally That's already what I'm doing :)
But I find it quite suspicious that I can't opt-out completly from the ui and have to edit some registry entries AND still blacklist some telemetry domains from MS on my DNS Server. That's also the reason why in Germany in some states it is still not advised to install and use Windows 10 in the university sector.
The lack of transparency in such a huge domain, where MS still has, after so many years, a monopol is just dishonest and in my eyes disgusting.
Ditching the platform is very difficult. MS created successfully many different Tools which many people depend on nowadays and are used to it. Everything what differs from their user experience is initially bad. There are unfortunately no reliable alternatives. With Win 10 MS at least "successfully" shot in their own goal, because at least some people started to recognise that we need alternatives. But that's it atm. -
But what about Windows 10 and the whole telemetry? I think this shows pretty good what Microsofts stance is

C++, especially since C++11. Being able to write fast and beautiful code.
