Falkon?
-
@piratefox It's okay. Happens to all of us. Take your time and don't worry too much about 'their' expectations.
-
Sorry to hear that. Take a breath and try it later when you are feeling better.
I'd advise not investing in one company. Instead try to have multiple interviews going. That will help to normalize the situation and take the edge off. -
@useVim deliver op from their troubles.
-
@bittersweet ah!
I didn't see through that at all.
I have received these kind of raises too. At a previous company everyone would get yearly 10% hike at least. But the catch was that everyone started at really low wages so I never really thought much of it. -
I don't get this. How are employers offering raises without you even asking?
This contradicts everything I have learnt.
What have I learnt?
0. Get an offer to bring to salary negotiations.
1. Ask for a raise. Invite a negotiation if not already scheduled.
2. They either agree or negotiate a lower raise; do whatever seems right, accept their offering like a merciful God or kick their butts. -
I want to smoke what you are smoking... or I want to work where you are working.

I would not be able to stop from sniggering in his stupid face.
-
@Oktokolo isn't seasoning supposed to get rid of the metallic taste by coating the pot with oil in coffee? (Sorry I thought I posted it but a notif made me realize the comment wasn't posted)
-
Did something happen there?
-
@tosensei I share your frustration.
But the security guy at a previous employer had good credentials. He was experienced and even gave talks at multiple infosec conferences. His advice was generally good and well researched. Yet this is the same company that instituted password change policy and it works with business customers not clients. So there would have been a reason for it.
Maybe that reason is customer confidence, or some ISO compliance or some way to shrug responsibility. I don't know. I'm not saying the reason will be good or bad. Just that this is something that would untie a knot in my head. -
@tosensei your temp password didn't expire?
There's companies which impose this password change requirement because of clients. Then there are companies which do it of their own. Stupid stuff. But they hire security specialists. I am curious what scenarios made them decide that the password change works. There must be some reason. -
@boombodies I can't believe in this year passwords are being reminded of by a service rep. Oh your company deserves its own twitter satire page. It's a webcomics content mine.
-
@boombodies I'm sorry to hear that.
Flood the job boards, something will come up eventually. -
@boombodies check weworkremotely for web dev and devops related jobs.
There's nodesk.co where cool people like Signal, DuckDuckGo and even Reddit are hiring. They have mobile and web dev jobs.
Again, subreddits post good remote jobs too. Since you are in Canada, you'll be eligible wrt timezone for a lot of them. Checkout communities for tech you are interested in. -
@arcadesdude never heard that before either.
-
Fuck that scum master.
I'm relating hard to people mentioning 24 hour days in comments.
I hope you get a 140k or higher offer soon.
Linkedin gets a lot of shit (rightly so), but it can help.
Also try remote job portals and if you are into any particular tech, check out discord groups/subreddits specific to those. They usually have an active jobs channel. -
@spongessuck well it's not clear what bouncing does then. The activity seems like restart but if it isn't that it is a cause for concern. If it is just cleaning up or dropping temp and other data, reset makes more sense, imo.
-
@netikras atleast reset sounds similar in meaning to restart.
Bounce? Idk why but I initially thought it was like dropping or deleting an instance.
Thank goodness I haven't seen kick or the others. -
How do you find them?
Local small dev shops or high profile large businesses? -
--insert-something-enjoyable-
-
I want to have the problems you're having.
-
@vane oi! Off my territory. Find another thread to sell your services.
-
I'm starting to love this meme.
-
And that was just a sample of my work.
I'm telling you those cookies will practically pay for themselves when you hire me. -
@NoMad GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER!
-
If the meeting was changed without sufficient notice and if your workday doesn't start at 9, it is not your fault.
-
@GlitterUnicorn Ahem.
-
@NoMad well I like cookies.
Which ones?
It will have to be one batch and with milk. -
@NoMad ugh. Fine. I'll take shares then.
