pretty sure the only reason im working as a js dev today is because i just copy pasted stuff from peoples source code into JSBin and clicked run a bajillion times. thats like note taking right?
-
@heyheni npm still resolves to urls just removes the need for a package file i guess
-
the module resolution sounds cool
-
are you looking for local or remote positions?
-
@flyingavokado i have anne pro as well, wireless and love the khalin red switches
-
i feel you. so infuriating!
-
yeah i will never trust anything from verizon
-
on small teams ive just bitten my tongue because its not worth arguing. on larger teams/ bigger companies even if i put my opinion out there it would be lost. there’s no point. there’s always louder or more entitled that get to call the shots. its cool you get to set the standard at your place
-
@Wisecrack i know its very popular but just my preference i’m really not a fan
-
@Wisecrack dont use jsx lol but seriously webpack is awful but ive had good luck with rollup
-
Why does it need to be a crappy web designer career?
-
@Angry I suppose you're right. It couldn't hurt to try learning a new lang see if it sparks anything.
-
@themounthead these are really good tips. I think having another frontend dev on the team is a good idea. I have done a fair amount of DB and backend design for some of my personal projects. I wonder if switching to full stack I would have a harder time finding a position somewhere. Your last point is dead on. I should definitely put more consideration into my next move.
-
@devapsarl Thank you so much, that's very encouraging. I would love to take a break from coding and I definitely have been slowing down my progress at work (partially because of the time of year, holidays, etc.) I will try to create some space between me and coding, see if I miss it at all.
-
@bahua that's awesome you're still enjoying it. I think you'r right moving around jobs has certainly helped keep it interesting and different. I was hoping that I could settle in with my current job as it is a larger stable company. Maybe I should look at it differently however and consider a move in a year or so.
-
just curious what are you running a private package manager for? js or some other language?
-
seriously! i had a open PR for nodejs for 2 years! https://github.com/nodejs/...
-
love those lightbulb moments
-
After calling her she returned only to give me some closure.
-
How'd it die? Is it a component you can replace?
-
In between jobs I kept a spreadsheet with all the people/ companies I was in contact with for my next one. Keeping track of when you spoke with someone, what the status was e.g. first time contact, set up interview, etc. helped to keep me hopeful and know that what I had to offer had some meaning and value.
-
@drac94 OMG thank you so much for sharing your experience! Do you find working in a PM role you miss coding at all?
-
@bahua really cool idea, i would love to follow your progress on it
-
I've found using product hunt and indie hackers websites useful for keeping me motivated.
-
taskwarrior looks cool! might try it out and maybe make an IFTTT extension
-
@Lexter great suggestion! I am married with a 6yo daughter so maybe I should ask my wife what she thinks. I might get the "just deal with it" response though haha...

Weird, maybe GH traffic data is messed. Either that or someone is cloning your repo in a VM or container somewhere where the ip/git user keeps changing.
