AboutA mostly self-taught programmer from Finland. I have worked on several android projects and have had a full-time job developing one. Programming is fun, but not easy. But because it's fun, it's also much easier.

I use Linux 4.19 with Arch Linux
-
What disturbed me the most in that article was the missing end-quotes
-
@PrivateGER except for the fact that Wine Is Not an Emulator 😉
-
@bigus-dickus it's also more likely to get a virus on windows due to it being way more insecure
-
Kdenlive is nice. They also have an AppImage available so you can get it running without a hassle
-
@Loading try Linux?
-
@dontPanic yeah I have noticed it on some websites too
-
@Santosh62 I have watched mr robot😎
-
@dontPanic cool, I have to check it out.
But I like qutebrowser over Firefox or chrome because it's so lightweight -
@dertrockx thanks, I have to check it out
-
@Santosh62 Yeah I haven't been watching any series lately 😂
-
What series is this?
-
Use i3 and qutebrowser and you are pretty much good to go
-
📌
Wow, this looks cool -
@jAsE I'm dying at 30°C in Finland 😅
But I can manage a 100°C sauna though 🤔 it's a bit weird -
@tizo I disagree.
The website is on the internet, and a browser's job is to view the contents of it. -
@tizo I don't see what your point is. How is what I said, suggesting that this isn't about IE?
-
@dontbeevil the fact that you have programs installed, that can't be uninstalled, regardless of the space they consume, is still considered bloatware.
And yes, you can install Android and other Linux based systems without pre-installed browsers. -
@tizo I think the picture is correct.
You use a bike to ride the road, as you would use a browser to browse the internet -
That's not how tags work.
I'll give you ++ though. Welcome to devRant! -
@eeee You have a good point. But does it actually work like this?
-
@jonii have you developed desktop apps? I'm planning on creating a desktop version too, but if nobody else gets that going, I'm going to start it once I finish the Android app
-
@jonii nice! Are you interested in helping me get it up and running?
-
I'm creating a messenger app too, maybe we could help each other out?
My project is at https://gitlab.com/Bettehem/... and I'm attempting to improve on my old messenger project: https://github.com/Bettehem/...
Text me on telegram if you are interested https://telegram.me/bettehem -
Are you sure you want to dualboot?
I myself find virtualization to be a better option if your computer can pull it off. More specifically, I run Arch Linux with i3 + Windows in a virtual machine and I have passed my other GPU for windows to use. This setup gets you pretty much native or at least near-native performance, and with the nice bonus of being able to run both Linux and windows or any other operating system simultaneously, so it eliminates the need to reboot.
Of course this setup has it's drawbacks too.
You would need to have enough ram to run two operating systems, enough cores in your CPU so that you can devide them and still get enough performance for both host and guest systems, and last but not least, you need a second GPU if you don't have one already.
Also, your hardware needs to support iommu and UEFI.
Integrated graphics chips, eg. Intel HD Graphics can also do the job as the other GPU needed for the setup.
It's also possible to do with one GPU but its pretty hard -
Nice man! I have Corsair K70 RGB LUX and SteelSeries Rival 700 and I have enjoyed using them so far. I think you'll be having a good time with those
-
@Drekel I think you should be good to go, but just make sure that when running Android studio, don't run any other ram hungry software simultaneously. And of course if you use Linux, you'll get more system resources available
-
@linuxxx interesting idea, but I want to create my own app from scratch so I can learn more.
-
I have had a few windows machines that only seemed to build project successfully after installing JDK separately, and setting the JAVA_HOME environment variable to point to the jdk install location
-
@deadPix3l that's exactly what this app is attempting to change. A phone number could be something that can be added optionally to get features that use it, but the point being, that it's not mandatory to share anything with anyone.
Also, even if it's easy to obtain a phone number on an Android device, it doesn't mean that we should do it?
