Rediscovering DevRant! I've missed this community! Life update: Things have been great! Since graduating I've worked a few different jobs in two different states, my wife gave birth to two of my amazing children, and life has, overall, been well (all things considered). Hope everyone is well!

@mkdirLuci4 Thats why i'm NOT standing ALL day lol. I just do it when I feel like it. And its not like anyone is making me stand. I'm one of the few who have a standing desk.
-
@mkdirLuci4 Welp... Thats an option I guess. I just don't like the taste of coffee, and I'm cutting down on soda so this is my next best thing. Definitely not going to be spending all day standing, but for small periods of time its nice. Just enough to wake up and stretch the legs (I have minimal leg room).
-
@1989 I think I will, but at the same time its exciting to experience a new perspective!
-
Those are my favorite moments, when you spend so much time trying to understand a concept, and you think you are never going to understand, then suddenly a switch flips in your head and a wave of knowledge and understanding hits you. It's one of the best feelings ever (:
-
This is similar to the “Android versus iPhone” argument. Having used both extensively, I can’t say that one is definitively better than another. Having used all three computer OSes, I like them all, and don’t see one as better than another. But that’s just me. Nice post OP. 😊

$50k-ish in Arkansas.

Make a discord bot. It's simple, yet can have as much complexity as you want it to. And it's kinda fun. :D
-
@SinfulPhantom I see what you did there, you witty dude you.
-
I pirate stuff. Probably shouldn’t, but I do. I just don’t want to have to pay for a bunch of different subscription services just to get everything I want. To expensive.
-
@gitpush Thanks! We are excited for the little one to arrive!
-
@linuxer4fun Agreed. But unfortunately, as I am sure is the same with most companies, we have users who I would not deem "Tech Literate". But we are moving away from Kaspersky in the coming months.
-
Yeah as a company we are switching to Sophos. Even in our preliminary tests it is much easier to deal with then Kaspersky.
-
@nickhh Lol I did. I'm on a mac, so I did a time machine backup, and I still have MacOS internet recover if things go sideways
-
@moshmage I definitely wouldn't think twice. I'm a homebody anyway, so being able to sit comfy at home and code would be a dream come true.
-
@nickhh all drives have been wiped! Nothing on my laptop but ubuntu!
-
Had the same issue! Apparently there is an issue with there Virus Definitions. It started to quarantine all sorts of random shit on my laptop. Still haven't found a fix. Good luck!
-
Update: Visual Studio/Team Foundation Studio workspaces are fucking bullshit.
-
I emailed you @eldamir
Stoked to join the project! -
@eldamir any updates?
-
Should not have laughed.. But I did. And this will now be stuck in my head all day xD
-
@heyheni The title of the page is a reference to the move Blade Runner.
-
Super cool!
-
@heyheni Which part are you referring to? As far as the link, it's just a random link I stumbled upon while looking for a domain for a project I'm working on.
-
@Qchmqs Well everyone involved (including the ladies doing the cubicle decorations) found it hilarious. (:

Feel the exact same way. They make it damn near impossible for a newbie or a struggling student to feel comfortable asking questions due to the often times toxic feedback that is given. At the beginning of my college career working on a few projects I asked some questions, after doing extensive research to ensure I wasn't asking a duplicate question (much like you did), and rather than a simple "this was answered here <link>" or "read this <link>", I got angry replies of wasted time and was even called names for asking what seemed to them to be a trivial question, even when I struggled to find an answer. I go there for answers now and nothing else. They need to take notes from DevRant on how to build a community.

@gjack905 I explained the situation to the recruiter of one company, and they said they wanted to finish the interview process first, then we could discuss my situation. The other company is now offering me an internship until I finish my last class. So it's not turning out too badly for now. (:
