@linuxxx I am German so I sometimes hear Dutch, but you guys over there don't use the L? 🤔
-
Yep. It still sucks. 😕
-
@IwraStudios it's a version between beta and alpha with some pre installed Dev tools.
-
@dfox God has spoken 😂
-
WITH WINDOWS THAT WOULD WORK. 😛
I am actually surprised, since macOS is some kind of OS for creatives? Hmmm
... 🤔 -
Sure? Have you checked if it works in IE as well? 😏
-
If it works for you that's great. There are tons of good (and bad) software written in PHP. I mean isn't it always that there are more people who dislike something when it is popular?
And for me: PHP is not a good language but that is my opinion. So no, you're alright I guess. 😁 -
@iatanasov actually no. It didn't happen with MySQL, because it was fixed in the version I used last. For some reason XAMPP as well as Raspbian use old versions of MariaDB in which it wasn't fixed yet.
So far MaruaDB caused me more issues than MySQL. -
@Artemix I never used PSQL so I would need to learn how to configure it. But the main reason not to use it: the sever it will be deployed on only has a MySQL database.
-
@kalolparty yep, I never worked with the first version.

You really underestimate Windows and it's developers. If Linux was this big on the Desktop there would much stuff that would embarrassing the community.
Microsoft did many bad things and did many mistakes but you really need to overthink it. Unix is not per se a better system.
Please take off your rose colored glasses. -
Why not use Frameworks like Laravel? They do much work for you and enabled you to focus on the important stuff.
-
Perhaps because of the + patents part? 😋
But from a technological standpoint I'd also rather use React. Angular is over complicated and it works on the Dom instead of using a shadow Dom prior.
But I've just started using VueJS and think it's amazing! -
At least you learn how to copy paste solutions for Angular 😃
-
It's probably an edge case but it happened. Anyway, Windows Servers are easy to manage. 😅 In the end it's probably a decision based on the knowledge about different technologies in the company and personal preferences. I just prefer Java over most other languages. 😃
-
I like Rust and I think it is an awesome language! I hope you'll have much fun and you'll create good software. Good luck! 🙂
-
@Celes in my former company we wrote a big software in C# which did not work on Linux, although the Servers were primarily Linux. In the end we just used Windows servers. We used some features that weren't yet available.
That would not have happened with Java.
In the end a Dev use its tools he's best with. But for the broad mass the IDEs bring huge sets of features by default. 🙂 If NeoVim works for you best it's great! 👍 -
@HalfBloodPrince because it's easier to identify words. Let's say peter-galabau.de then Peter is usually the name and galabau the company. Without the dash it would be harder to see both words, if they belong together or not.
-
@stimulate sure, but I had not many occurrences. But hey,we have tons of different languages and you should use the right one for your problems. 🙂
-
@anasshd most of it is created by your IDE.
-
@JonStodle so? It's well tested and used very much around the world. Now we have lambdas. Just because something is new and hip doesn't mean that it is good. But lambdas have proven that they help a lot.
-
@Celes it runs better on more platforms (C# is open source but I had lots of trouble because it's not yet that good supported), Java is extremely reliable and as you already said: the IDEs. They are insanely helpful and supportive to the programmer.
-
@stimulate actually that is not completely true. For example you have int, boolean, char, and so on, which aren't objects. In Python or Ruby that's different.
But OOP makes sense when modularizing code. It helps to make code cleaner and better understandable. -
@NiPfix jup, you're right. I dislike dynamic types too. The programmer has to deal with type checking at some point which could easily be done by the language
-
@TyloRen especially when you have to do many checks for input data just because dynamic languages doesn't enforce anything....
-
You just need to check for an @. So... Today emails can be much more diverse.
-
@HalfBloodPrince but that only work for nouns. This is a full sentence. For example we merge the following nouns to one: Bundes Ausbildungs Forderungs Gesetz merges to Bundesausbildungsförderungsgesetz. 🙂
-
@nickj Lool 😂😂
-
Yup, totally agree.
