Sorry, still looking into it. I’m also going to start working with some users who have volunteered to work in devRant/hopefully taking over the maintenance and improving it. If you’re interested in helping with this, please let me know.
Also to be clear about one thing, nothing on devRant is a money maker. We were never able to generate a profit at any point in the app’s history, and that’s certainly true today.
If the community takes over like we hope, we’ll still have to figure out how the bills will get paid, because right now that’s of course coming from us/always been subsidized. -
Hey, apologies for this! Definitely not intentional and we will figure it out asap. Thanks for your patience!
-
@hjk101 thanks, we appreciate your support. I investigated and it seemed the subscription check corn had some kind of hiccup when it ran over your record. I reset it based on your sub receipt and you should be back in business now!
If it happens to surface again, please let me know. -
thanks, sorry about that - looking into it
-
Looking good, thanks! Really hoping we can bring back devDucks one day too :/
-
I like it! Just need to shorten a bit :)
-
Will look at that and remove if that happened, apologies!
-
@PaperTrail thanks, good idea!
-
@GyroGearloose thanks!!
-
@C0D4 hmm weird, I’m on iOS 15.1 and seems fine. When did they stop working for you/what version?
-
Notifs seem fine to me?
-
Thanks - I’m looking into this. Nothing has changed with our image processing in a long time though, but still thinking a few things it could be
-
@atheist we don’t store the contents of a deleted rant (though can see reports), but please send any details you want to david@hexicallabs.com - I’m not seeing any emails from you.
-
@RememberMe thanks for the heads up, we are reviewing.
-
This should be fixed now - seems like logs on one our web servers filled up the disk, will look into why the rotation/prune seemed to fail (probably because of a hanging php process somewhere).
-
I 100% agree. It’s so annoying when clients don’t support sending JSON params in GET requests.
-
We absolutely do not sell any user data and never have.
And yes, to be clear, we do use Google Analytics on our website like pretty much every other website, but that’s really the extent of our third-party integrations. -
Have to keep it going! We’ve been recycling question concepts a bit (but not worded the same) but can hopefully get ideas from everyone soon maybe so we can go back to having more original ones!
-
That’s really strange lol. In all my years of PHP I’ve never really seen that. Do you have an example with more context maybe?
-
@100110111 yeah honestly I’m not sure what happened, was definitely surprising to me based on how many people have requested it in the past. The announcement is still even pinned I think.
-
@100110111 I’m not really sure how open sourcing devRant would address a request like this. It’s not something we’d want to do anyway IMO - and how would it be handled? It’s pretty different than a simple bug fix and it’s something that impacts user experience. But we don’t have much interest in changing a behavior that has been around since devRant launched. A setting to disable images, maybe, but that’s similar to are category filtering too.
@homo-lorens I wrote about an initiative to open source devRant in one of my recent announcement posts, and the interest level was close to 0 at that point from the community it seemed. That certainly didn’t help convince me that it was worth the significant time and possible security issues to work towards open sourcing in the near future. I think a lot of times people say they will help but once the real work is required it becomes a chore. At least that’s what I’ve seen in open source a lot of times and I was honestly surprised how little discussion the announcement resulted in. -

That’s not cool, sorry that happened to you.
-
@junon thanks for the feedback, we’ll keep an eye on it.

Dude, chill out. It was literally a spammer posting a picture of their client lol.
-
I love GraphQL. Really powerful. I would use it for every new API I built if it wasn’t for just so many people still not knowing how to use it/query a GraphQL API. I highly recommend learning - there’s so many benefits to using GQL.

@luxe011 how are rude comments relevant to why the question itself was marked as offensive/spam? Someone posting a rude comment should lead to the comment getting downvoted, not a perfectly valid post...

Those are inappropriate down votes and the downvoters have been downvote banned.
