Yeah, I don't see it either. First thing I do on weirdness is hit F12 and select to see if the markup made it to client side, then start checking CSS... and I'm a back end troll. -
Looking at the inverse situation.. if someone was talking to me about that experience and even knows that ECMAScript exists I'd assume they were already employed and full time.
-
To hell with that. If I'm gonna go stand for 3 hours there better be a band.

Doing something similar revitalizing an older ASP.Net MVC app. Very easy to get working. -
Why not a computed column, view, or trigger?
Too complex a calculation? -
"Nope, software guy. I might actually know less about that printer than you do."

Usually something I'm using as a dependency that is broken or missing a feature I need.

Learning time is a fundamental part of knowledge work.
This is not an assembly line where you should turn out 10 resistors a minute. -
People don't like using horrible names.
I'm a developer which means I loath being wrong. I put in an amazing amount of time and effort so I don't have to be.

@parag0
Definitely worth it but it's not gospel, especially if you have paying customers. -
Write your own scripts for any complicated stages and save yourself the headache.
Don't take plugin upgrades lightly. Lot of breaking regressions in my experience.
Currently considering ripping most of our current configured pipeline out and replacing it with build scripts that will be committed. -
I'm not a big fan of it. Let me work on something and then put it up for pre-merge review.
I really don't like anyone looking over my shoulder or chatting, and the eventual discussions about minutia seem to take forever to shut down.
If I need someone to play rubber duck I'll ask, and if someone else needs me to I'm happy to help. But then I want to go back to my desk, put the headphones on, and work in peace. -
Very often you are replacing Bob. That was Bob's skillset so that goes into the ad.

It pains me to see NPM talked about so poorly.
What other package manager can you tell to fetch a library for displaying human readable dates and it helpfully downloads all the cumulative knowledge of our species? -
@bluesdriven
I garroted a junior with a regex once. Took him days to die.
Hasn't been the catalyst to my career I thought it would be.
They just sent another one.
