    @bluesdriven

    I garroted a junior with a regex once. Took him days to die.

    Hasn't been the catalyst to my career I thought it would be.

    They just sent another one.

    Even better. Went to an interview knowing that I didn't know half the stuff. Was upfront about it.

    I am now lead dev for the whole team. And still dint know half the stuff i should have known from the job description

    Honesty pays off in the long term. I'm sure they'll quickly find out how much of an expert you are. And trustworthiness is a bigger factor than a specific skill. In any case you have to learn on the job. Just show them your eagerness to learn, and how you can uniquely bring them value.

    As someone who's written job descriptions and requirements I'm happy if you know 1/3rd of the technologies I list, you'll learn the rest on the job. Just don't lie about what you know

    @port22 sometimes i look at a job description and only know about like half the techs listed and I would go like "i don't know this and that , damn it. shouldnt apply for this one".
    its kinda relieving to hear what you said
